TREE AID JOB DESCRIPTION
SUPPORTER MARKETING OFFICER
Overall Aim
To help secure, maintain and develop support from TREE AID supporters.
Key Objectives

To raise unrestricted income from individuals.

Day-to-day implementation and management of donor recruitment and/or donor
retention fundraising activities.

Produce data and analysis to support fundraising.

We’re recruiting for two Supporter Marketing Officers (job description and person
specification is the same for both roles) - main differences are the areas of responsibility.
Donor Recruitment Officer
Responsible for managing donor recruitment fundraising programme, including;

Planning and managing all direct marketing donor recruitment activities (face-toface, direct mail, print, inserts, telephone, online, email)

Developing a successful welcome/donor communications programme

Managing community fundraising and events programme
Donor Retention Officer
Responsible for managing donor retention fundraising programme, including;

Planning and managing all direct marketing donor retention activities (direct mail
appeals, newsletters, telephone, reactivation/upgrade, email, online)

Developing a successful donor communications programme

Managing and administering legacy income and marketing activities
The Supporter Marketing Officers will:

PROJECT MANAGE SUPPORTER FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES
1.1
Lead on day-to-day project management of direct marketing fundraising activities
(donor recruitment and/or donor retention fundraising campaigns)
1.2
Contribute to fundraising appeals and communications, including: briefing agencies
(copy and design), drafting/editing fundraising copy, proof reading, checking
materials for print, dealing with fulfilment and responses
1.3
Contribute to planning of donor journeys and communications to increase donor
retention and improve the donor experience
1.4
Manage community fundraising and events including; identifying opportunities, and
recruiting and supporting fundraisers/participants to raise money for TREE AID (Donor
Recruitment Officer only)

PROVIDE DATA AND ANALYSIS TO SUPPORT FUNDRAISING AND PLANNING
2.1
Contribute to maintaining and developing supporter database for fundraising
2.2
Provide ad-hoc and regular data selections (mainly Donor Retention Officer), reports
and analyses from the database to support fundraising
2.3
Carry out internal and external fundraising research
2.4
Contribute to development of fundraising plans and campaigns, including
developing plans and activities for recruiting and retaining donors
2.5
Provide data and analysis to assist with budget setting, including researching of costs
and income projections

MAINTAIN A HIGH STANDARD OF DONOR CARE
3.1
Deliver high standards of supporter care, including responding to donor
correspondence and queries
3.2
Be familiar with the work of TREE AID and be able to communicate this to enquriers
and donors to inspire them to give

SUPPORT AND MAINTAIN VOLUNTEERS
4.1
Assist with recruitment of volunteers, interns and temps
4.2
Identify projects that can be delegated to them
4.3
Provide coaching and on-going support

UNDERTAKE OTHER TASKS AS AGREED WITH MANAGER
5.1
Provide occasional back-up and cover to team/department staff as appropriate
5.2
Contribute to effective team working and suggest improvements for more effective
and efficient ways of working
5.3
Maintain effective paper and electronic filing systems
5.4
Carry out any other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the post as
requested by your line manager
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS

Successful and effective fundraising campaigns – delivered on time, to agreed
targets and within budget

Donor attrition minimised, and donor retention and experience maximised

Accurate data and reporting to support fundraising

Database is up to date and used to its full potential


QUALIFICATIONS AND KNOWLEDGE
Educated to degree level or equivalent
CIM/IDM diploma / Certificate in Fundraising
Knowledge and understanding of direct marketing and/or fundraising using a
variety of channels (direct mail, phone, email, online, face-to-face, inserts)
DATA AND ANALYSIS
Experience of using databases (fundraising relationship marketing preferred)
Ability to analyse data and produce reports
High level of numeracy and analytical skills
Experience of undertaking research and reporting findings
Knowledge of Raisers Edge (e.g. admin, data selections, analysis, reporting)
DONOR RECRUITMENT AND DEVELOPMENT
Project managing direct marketing campaigns to agreed targets, deadlines &
budgets (donor recruitment/retention campaigns an advantage)
Experience of production and/or fulfilment of communications materials
Good editing and copy writing skills
Experience of community fundraising and events, including identifying new
opportunities and recruiting and supporting fundraisers and participants
