Dall sheep populations began to decline about 20 years ago. Hunter numbers have been declining for the last 30 years. Resident hunter demands for restriction of non-resident Dall ram hunters have destabilized the Board of Game. At the Board's direction, ADF&G will be sampling Dall sheep hunter opinions on a variety of issues. The Wild Sheep Foundation is taking an interest in "Thinhorn" management like never before. A re-evaluation of the existing Dall sheep management plan/structure seems likely to occur in the near future. Questions about the biological validity of Dall sheep hunting regulations have recurred.
