Bowling Club Constitution
We the People, in Order to Form a more Perfect Bowling Club, say the following:
Article 1: Name
The name of this organization shall be Cyclone Bowling Club. The Cyclone Bowling
Club is affiliated with Iowa State University.
Article 2: Purpose & Goals
A. The goal of Cyclone Bowling Club is to give Iowa State students a chance to
enjoy the sport of bowling while meeting new people and improving their
bowling skills. Cyclone Bowling Club also attempts to provide a chance for
competitive bowling through traveling to various tournaments to bowl against
other schools. Cyclone Bowling Club abides by and supports established Iowa
State University policies, State and Federal Laws.
Article 3: Membership
A. Cyclone Bowling Club is open to any registered Iowa State University student
interested in the sport of bowling. Cyclone Bowling Club does not discriminate
on the basis of race, color, age, religion, national origin, sexual orientation,
gender, identity, sex, marital status, disability or status as a U.S. Veteran.
B. Membership on the Cyclone Bowling travel team is open to all club members that
meet the following requirements:
1. Must have a current club average above 180.
2. Must have a travel team average above 180.
3. Must have a minimum 2.0 GPA and be registered as a full-time student at
Iowa State University.
4. If there are more than 7 people meeting the above requirements, the
people with the top 7 travel averages will make up the travel team
5. If there are enough people to make two travel teams, the above
requirements will hold for a second travel team.
C. Members are expected to pay weekly for their bowling. Travel team members
will be expected to pay an additional $40.00 per person per semester on top of
regular club dues.
D. Membership will be revoked by ½ vote of officers plus ¾ vote from the general
membership if actions are deemed inappropriate by the membership.
Article 4: Officers
A. The duties of the President shall be as follows:
1. Preside over all Bowling Club meetings and functions.
2. Be responsible for ensuring that new members fill out proper
documentation to join the club, including medical release forms.
3. Maintain communication with organization adviser.
4. Ensure that the organization is operating in conformity with the standards
ser forth by Iowa State University and Student Activities Center.
5. Represent organization on campus.
B. The duties of the Treasurer shall be as follows:

Collect member dues.
Maintain accurate record of organization transactions.
Preside over club functions in the absence of the President.
Cosign organization checks along with the Adviser.
Arrange fundraising activities.
Solicit funding from the Student Government in conjunction with the
President and Travel Chair.
C. The duties of the Secretary shall be as follows:
1. Regularly attend Sports Club Council meetings or find someone to go in
case of absence.
2. Be responsible for relaying information gleaned at above meetings to other
club officers.
D. The duties of the Travel Chair shall be as follows:
1. Be responsible for signing up and maintaining a club travel team.
2. Keep President informed on information regarding travel team, including
upcoming tournaments and team roster.
3. Keep Treasurer informed as to dues owed by members of the travel team.
4. Find bowling tournaments and propose these tournaments to other
members and officers for approval.
5. Be responsible for keeping a current travel roster and record of averages.
E. The duties of the Adviser shall be as follows:
1. Maintain communication and meet with officer(s) regularly.
2. Be aware of and approve financial expenditures.
3. Ensure that the organization is operating in conformity with the standards
set forth by Iowa State University and Student Activities Center.
F. Elections will be held for all officer positions for the following academic year
near the end of the bowling season but no later than the second to last week of
bowling. All officers will be elected by a simple majority of those club members
present at an announced election meeting.s
G. Officers will hold their elected offices for the entire academic year starting in
August and ending in May.
H. Officers may be removed from office by ½ vote of the other officers and ¾ of the
general membership if actions are deemed inappropriate by the membership. The
officer is permitted to speak before the Executive Committee and the general
membership about the charges made concerning his/her performance. The officer
is not permitted to participate in the deliberation of the Executive Committee
regarding the charges.
I. In the event that an officer is unable to complete his/her term, an election for the
vacant position will be held immediately and require a simple majority of those
club members present to elect a replacement officer.
J. An adviser will be elected by a simple majority of the members present at the
time of election and will remain the club adviser for the remainder of his/her
tenure at Iowa State University or until he/she decides to resign the position.
K. The adviser may be removed from office by ½ vote of the officers and ¾ of the
general membership if actions are deemed inappropriate or inadequate by the
membership.
L. The following are requirements set forth by Cyclone Bowling Club that all
officers must meet to be considered for an executive position:
1. Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) as stated below
and meet that minimum cumulative GPA in the semester immediately
prior to the election/appointment, the semester of election/appointment
and semesters during the term of office. For undergraduate students, the
minimum GPA is 2.00. In order for this provision to be met, at least six
hours (half-time credits) must have been taken for the semester under
consideration.
2. Be in good standing with the university and enrolled: at least half time (six
or more credit hours), if an undergraduate student (unless fewer credits are
required to graduate in the spring and fall semesters) during the term of
office, and at least half time (four or more credits), if a graduate level
student (unless fewer credits are required in the final stages of their degree
as defined by the Continuous Registration Requirement) during their term
of office.
3. Be ineligible to hold an office should the student fail to maintain the
requirements as prescribed in (1) and (2).
Article 5: Finances
A. All monies belonging to this organization shall be deposited and disbursed
through a bank account established for this organization at the Campus
Organizations Accounting Office and/or approved institution/office (must receive
authorization via Campus Organizations Accounting Office). All funds must be
deposited within 24 hours after collection. The Adviser to this organization must
approve and sign each expenditure before payment.
B. In the event that Cyclone Bowling Club is dissolved, all remaining monies will be
donated to the Sports Club Council’s general fund.
C. Weekly dues shall be paid to the treasurer by all members present.
D. Per semester dues shall not exceed $100.00 per person.
E. All travel team dues will be paid to the treasurer in a timely manner.
F. All club expenditures must be approved by both the Treasurer and President.
Article 6: Amendments and Ratification
A. This constitution may be amended and subsequently ratified at any time, with the
approval of the President and Treasurer and with a simple majority of the
membership, not counting abstainers. Members will be given one week to
consider amendments. Ratified amendments to this Constitution must be
submitted to the Student Activities Center within ten (10) days.
