23 June 2005 To: All Existing Students of Master of Accounting (MAC) and Master of Finance (MFIN) Programmes Dear Student, Unit Enrolment for 81000 T2, 2005 (05/08) MAC and 81500 T2, 2005 (05/08) MFIN Programmes Welcome back to the programme! I would like to inform you that the Trimester 2, 2005 (T2, 2005) will commence on 1 August 2005. If you would like to start your studies, you are invited to enroll any units that are offered in this trimester required in your programme. Since we provide you the flexibility to choose the unit(s) that you would like to study so as to fit your own working schedule, the pay-as-you-enroll (“PAYE”) method is used and you will only have to pay for the unit(s) that you enroll in each trimester. There is no formal restriction in terms of which unit you should take in each trimester, however, the university believes that students should follow two principles when they consider a particular unit in Trimester 2: (1) no student should enroll in more than FOUR units in this trimester (i.e. you can enroll nothing up to 4 units) and (2) students are advised to complete the pre-requisite unit(s) (if any) before enrolling on a particular unit (except where indicated, prerequisite unit(s) can be undertaken as a co-requisite (together) (see page 8 or 12)). To decide which unit(s) you want to take in this trimester, we provide you with a set of unit timetables for all units that are offered in this trimester (see pages 15 to 22 or 15, 23 to 27) Each unit’s timetable includes the dates and time(s) of all 8 face-to-face teaching sessions together with the assessment method. It may so happen that two or even three units take place at the same time. You are therefore required to double-check the units to ensure that they are free from time clashes before actual enrollment. The deadline for unit(s) enrollment is 22nd July 2005 (for details, please refer to page 5) and all enrollments are served on a “first-come, first-served” basis. You are strongly advised to enroll as soon as possible. As part of the enrolment procedure, you are required to read through all the enclosed documents and forms before you fill in the enrolment forms (such as the Curtin “Enrolment/ Amendment Form” (Pink Form) and the OUHK / LiPACE “Registration/ Re-Registration Form (FCS004)”) and other related forms (such as “Collection of Course Materials Form (LCM001)”). Table 1 provides you a summary of the unit enrolment procedure that you may find useful for reference. In addition to the unit(s) that you may be interested to study in this trimester, you are also required to plan your unit(s) enrollment in 2005 by filling in the units that you intended to study in remaining trimesters of 2005 on the provided Curtin “Enrolment/ Amendment Form” (Pink Form). Payments will NOT be 1 required with the form until you actually enroll that unit at the beginning of each respective trimester. Change in such plan is allowed without charge. Just before Trimester 2 of 2005, you will receive a Curtin “Enrolment Advice” based on your original plan. It is the student’s responsibility to check the details of the Curtin “Enrolment Advice” for any discrepancy of what you have originally planned to enroll and report back to LiPACE. If you wish to amend, withdraw or add units you must complete the Curtin “Enrolment/ Amendment form” (Pink Form) and return it within the unit enrolment deadline. If you fail to withdraw from any units that you do not wish to undertake, you may find that a DNA (did not attend) will appear for that unit on your Academic Results. An administration fee of AUD$60 will be introduced for late submission of such plan. You may find the instruction stated in the “Letter from Overseas Program Administrator (2005 Enrolment Plan)” for your information. You may order through Academic and Professional (“A&P”) Book Centre using the attached Order Form on or before the order deadline specified on the Order Form. You are free to use any other bookstores of your own choice, if preferred, but please ensure that those bookstores do take special orders and do not impose excessive delivery lead time. You may also purchase textbooks online, say, through Curtin University Bookshop at its website http://www.curtin.edu.au/curtin/dept/commserv/bookshop. 14
