Lab - The pH of Common Household Products
Purpose:
To determine the pH of household products using universal indicator
paper and to identify them as acids, bases, or neutral substances.
Materials:
universal indicator paper (w/ colour chart)
Samples of 10 unknown liquids (labeled A to J)
Procedure:
1. Place 2 drops of the first household item on the end of a strip of
universal indicator paper.
2. Compare the resulting colour with the colour chart. Record the pH of
the liquid.
3. Repeat for all other liquids.
