Learning 2B Labs Inc. Q.A. Dept Neutral Office Healthyville, FL Dear Young Scientist Interns, Thank you very much for your help in selecting a purification system. Since receiving your letter the community has instituted a flat tax, per gallon on all residential water use. The tax is aimed at generating revenue to help restore local woodland areas and parks. Also, I have discovered an additional purification system to consider. Please include this new information when ranking researched systems. In addition, I have included several liquids for your team to test. Each liquid was filtered using one of the systems researched. Please test each item’s pH and compare results to known values. I will compare your results to my own to determine the effectiveness of each system. Please remember, tested liquids can either be neutral, an acid, or a base. A pH of 7 is neutral, a pH of 1-6 is acidic, and a pH of 8-14 is basic or alkaline. Liquids that are very acidic (pH of 1-2) or very alkaline (pH of 13-14) are dangerous and can burn you. Please write a letter in response including: a list of your pH measurements, a rank of purification systems and a detailed description of the method you used to rank them. If the method you previously used changed, please explain how it changed and why a change was necessary. If your method remained the same, please explain why no change was necessary. Thank you for your participation in this project. Sincerely, Indi Pink, PhD
