Week2 Assingment
May 12, 2007
Team Charter:
1. Team Purpose.
Our team purpose is to create an e-Commerce website for Williams Specialty
Company, that will allow access to customers who have a valid user name and
password. With in the e-Commerce site we will include a catalog displaying items
available to purchase as well as a shopping cart that will allow customers to place
and pay for their order(s). As a team we are also learning how to work
professionally together, dealing with different personalities, issues that may arouse,
and different time zones.
2. Team Management Plan (i.e., how will the team be lead).
The team will be managed by a different person each week. We will rotate through
each person so everyone will have two chances to lead. Team lead should send out
reminder emails prior to biweekly meetings. After turning in assignments, team
lead should inform teammates that assignments have been submitted to the
instructor. If there are unclear question the team lead will contact the instructor and
report that information back to the team.
3. Member Skills. An inventory of skills of each of the team members.
Rob Decker: Strong in web design, database design, object-oriented design, high
attention to detail.
Mamie Dent: Programming/system analysis and Design. C#, Java, VB.net,
Dreamweaver, a couple of database classes, etc
Mario Gonzalez: Programming/system analysis and Design. VB.Net, C++, Java,
ASP.net, Front Page, MS Project, a couple of database classes, etc.
Josh Romanelli: Good with .Net, database design, C#, and Java.
4. Meeting Expectations and Responsibilities. How often will the team meet and how.
We will meet every Wednesday and Friday at 4pm mountain time. If a team
member is not available, he/she should inform the other members in advance, if
possible. Elluminate will be used for real-time communications. Email will be
used as needed.
5. Equal Commitment. Clear statement on level of commitment from each member.
Rob Decker: I am willing to put in a lot of time and effort Monday-Friday, with
some time available on Saturday. I do not do any schoolwork on Sunday. I want to
produce a project worthy of receiving an ‘A’ grade. I’m available to my team
members pretty much from 9 am to 9pm on the days listed.
Mamie Dent: My commitment to the team is to be dedicated to keep up with all
assignments/task that are given to me, try to be available for all meetings and if not
available at least have the assignments there for my teammates so that I can directly
be apart of the team meeting.
Mario Gonzalez: My commitment to the team is to keep up with all
assignments/task that are given to me. I will also try to be available for all meetings.
If I am not available I will at least try to have all the assignments done on time.
Josh Romanelli: Willing to commit to weekdays and occasionally saturdays, and
some on sundays. Would like to keep the team moving forward and constantly
thinking and improving.
6. Conflict Plan. How will the team deal with conflict when it arises.
First of all, just don’t get offended. Let’s just get rid of any emotional conflict. We
all want to produce a successful project. Let’s keep our goal in mind.
If conflict should arise, we could figure it out as a team and come together as a
team. Communication is the key to dealing with conflict.
Member Work Expectations:
1. What is the quality of work expected?
Quality should be the best of your personal ability. We should give 100% effort. If
a team member’s work requires major modifications by another member, then the
quality is not sufficient. If a team member doesn’t know how to do something, then
it is that person’s responsibility to contact another member to get help before the
assignment becomes late.
2. What is the quantity of work expected?
This should be defined by the group for each individual assignment.
3. How is the timeliness of work defined?
Work needs to be completed on or before its assigned due date. Work needs to be
completed by the time the second meeting is over. This class is too short and the
schedule is too tight for late work. One person’s late work affects the whole team
and will affect everybody’s grade.
4. What does it mean to come prepared to a meeting?
Show up to the meetings on time. Do whatever work was assigned at the last
meeting. Read and understand the lecture. Know what assignments are due soon,
and what is coming up. Be ready to discuss the next steps of action.
We should exchange phone numbers in case we need help with an assignment. Email
sometimes doesn’t get delivered properly, and can be too slow on the occasion that a
questions needs to get answered right away.
