Term Overview for Year 1 Term 1 2014

Education

Baptism-Welcome to God’s

Family

In part 1 of this unit students learn about Jesus

Christ as one who welcomes, loves and includes them. They are people who enjoy a relationship with Jesus

Christ and the kingdom.

In part 2 they are introduced to baptism as an initiation into the Church community. They explore sharing in the new life of

Christ and learn about the symbols and actions used in the Rite of Baptism.

Journey Towards the Cross

In part 1of this unit students explore Lent as time of growth, change and service.

In part 2 and 3 they explore the Last Supper and Jesus

Christ’s journey to the Cross in Holy Week.

There are many different habitats which are homes for a variety of plants and animals.

• We have a responsibility to look after animals and their habitats.
