The Danceworx comprises of The Danceworx Academy and The Danceworx Student Repertory Company.

The Danceworx Academy was set up by Indian-Australian choreographer Ashley Lobo in November of 1998 to teach dance along the lines of dance institutes overseas. Currently, its curriculum consists of styles such as

Jazz, Classical Ballet & Contemporary Dance.

Today, The Danceworx Academy has over 5500 students & 18 studios between New Delhi, NCR and Mumbai.

The Danceworx Student Repertory Company was set up with senior students hand-picked by the Artistic

Director Ashley Lobo. These budding artists are given opportunities to perform, teach and choreograph. They have a special curriculum set by the Artistic Director.

The philosophy of The Danceworx is and will always remain Helping people find & build their dance & themselves, to full potential, in an environment of fun, love & values.

The vision of The Danceworx is to create a higher awareness & understanding of international dance and to facilitate & help in developing constantly evolving artists.

The Danceworx believes in the facilitation of evolving artists. Students are taught that dance is not limited to steps alone, but includes a wider understanding of self, creativity, movement and physiology. This information is to enable them to create their own work and eventually discover & develop a movement style of their own.

The Danceworx Academy was set up in November of 1998 to teach dance along the lines of dance institutes overseas. Currently its curriculum consists of styles such as Jazz, Classical Ballet, Contemporary Dance and

Social Dance styles.

The aim of The Danceworx Academy is to develop the student’s creative potential to the highest possible level and to train and channelize young talent under the able guidance of well-trained teachers in an atmosphere of love and values.

Experience has taught us that under performance in any area of life does not necessarily mean a lack of aptitude, it may be lack of interest in that subject, caused by lack of success or lack of confidence. We truly believe that if success principles can be taught in a fun way through dance, all of us would be able to discover our own successes in other areas as well.

The guiding principles of every teacher at The Danceworx:

 Everyone is a 10/10 . Teachers help youngsters discover that through their classes.

 Learning is fun!

Teachers help students to discover that there is no failure – only experience and information.

To compete is healthy , but only with oneself. Teachers encourage students to break barriers within their own minds, to discover new possibilities and new paradigms.

It’s more fun to grow to a position rather than to be gifted one

. A principle that is valuable in everyday life. Vision, struggle & prize – is the teaching mantra.

All teachers of the community classes and the Dance-in-Education programme are selected from The Danceworx

Repertory Company, based on their ability.

These teachers have to undergo an extensive training programme, comprising of:

Specific dance syllabus designed by the Artistic Director

A leadership development in education programme
