The Gala will be held at the Von Braun Center, North Hall, Huntsville, Alabama, beginning at 7:00 p. m. The featured speaker will be the Honorable Charles F. Bolden, Jr., Administrator for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. was founded November 17, 1911, on the campus of Howard University, by three undergraduate students and their advisor. For 100 years, Omega has provided service to the world. Omega has served mankind in every phase of society and has left its legacy on every level of endeavors. We here in Huntsville, Alabama are no exception. We have strived to live up to our Cardinal Principles; Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance and Uplift, as set forth by our Founders; Bishop Edgar A. Love, Dr. Oscar J. Cooper, Professor Frank Coleman and Dr. Ernest E. Just. Omega Men in the Huntsville community through the years have led the way in social and economic change for the betterment of mankind. In conjunction with the Fraternity’s celebration, the Xi Omicron Chapter, founded May 30, 1948, along with other Omega Men in our community will honor our Founders, Veterans and the achievements made by fraternal and community persons. The Chapter provides annually scholarships to deserving graduating High School Seniors in our community, along with maintain a Mentoring program at a West Lawn Middle School, here in Huntsville. We also hold an annual Talent Hunt Competition for High School Students, a National Essay Contest, along with co-sponsoring a city-wide Christmas Day for the Homeless. Proceeds from this event will go to help support these programs. The chapter also provides financial support to the Harris Home for Children, North Alabama Sickle Cell Foundation, AAMU, American Cancer Society and other agencies in our community.
