20th Century Literature Latin Roots Vocabulary Mastery Test This vocabulary test will cover 40 words from our lessons this quarter. There will NOT be any parts of speech or roots on this test. The test will be on Friday, November 6th in class. This counts as a major assessment and is your opportunity to show me that you have mastered these vocabulary words, their meanings, and their usages. What the vocabulary section will look like 40 questions total: •30 bubble-type multiple choice questions •10 original sentences What the sections will look like 30 bubble-type questions (similar to the sections on quizzes): •Fill in the sentences with appropriate choice •Words in context (phrases) – match the meaning of the word •Synonyms section – choose the word that is the best synonym •Antonyms section – choose the word that is the best synonym 10 original sentences (just like you do on quizzes) where you must show me that you understand how to use each word. You will be able to change the form of the word as long as you use it correctly (ex: abstemious changed to abstain). How to start studying 1) Go through the word list below with the following process: 1. Cross out words you know for sure. 2. Put a ? next to ones you kind of know, but aren’t sure about. 3. Circle words that you are really not sure about. •Use the flashcards that you’ve already created. •Consult your quizzes as a tool to help you. •Use your vocabulary packets to reference words. •Practice over time – DON’T wait until the night before to start studying. 2) Look through your quizzes and put a * next to a word that you did not get correct (don’t count the parts of speech section).
