Constitution Day Observance: (September 9th through 23rd). Resources can be found on the

Special Request: All Emergency Cards & Cum folders should be secured in the main office at
the end of each instructional day - Please return/file in alphabetical order.
Emergency Drills: Review fire, earthquake, and drop-cover drill procedures with your
students in the classroom. It’s important for students to be familiar with procedures in the
event of a true emergency. Drop drills should be held monthly.
Fire Alarm Upgrade Project: Monday, September 15th is the start date for the fire alarm
project. The existing alarm system will remain functional until the new system is installed, tested
and certified. This will be similar to the wireless project where a team of contractors will set-up a
jobsite trailer at the North end of the playground area for the next few months. The contractors
will be working on campus/classrooms after dismissal from 2:45-10:30pm. Contractors will
ensure that all rooms are cleaned up and prepared for the next instructional day. If there are any
problems throughout the project, please contact Marshall or myself.
Group Counseling Gr. 3-5: Dana Weinstein, our new Pupil Services & Attendance Counselor,
will offer group counseling services by referral only. Services will be offered to general
education students who need support with social skills, developing empathy, and learning
conflict resolution skills. If you have a student that you would like to refer, please submit a
referral form to Ms. Weinstein’s box. Thank you!
Professional Development Opportunities:
GATE Conference : A Master Class on Gifted Education .Saturday, Nov. 1st. Keynote speaker is
Dr. Pedro Noguera, author and professor whose research focuses on social/economic conditions,
school reform, & conditions that promote student achievement. GATE funds will pay for your
registration fee. Please notify Mrs. Elliott, GATE Coordinator, if you would like to attend.
COMMON CORE COURSES-Sessions are led by Facilitator, Susan Obuchi, with activities to
apply and extend student learning in the common core. The location for the first session is at

Loyola Village from 3:15-5:00pm. Training rate will be paid to participants who attend. Grade
level chairs can pair up to rotate.

Surveys: If you have not submitted your surveys from the Special Education training on Aug.
18th or 19th, please ensure that you return them to Melanie Mack. The surveys are needed for
our District Validation Review documentation. Thank you!
Refrigerator Housekeeping – Please remember to throw away or take home any personal food
items from the staff refrigerator at the end of week. When food remains over the expiration date,
it can cause contamination and unwanted smell. Thank you for your help!
ATTENDANCE: Continue to submit attendance daily (K-5) as we approach norm day (Sept.
12th). Cumulative attendance must be updated from the first day of enrollment until the current
date. If you’re having trouble submitting, please notify Ray before 9:00am. Thank you!
Arts & Collaboration: All pull-out enrichment classes requires that a credentialed teacher be
present during scheduled time blocks. As the classroom teacher, it’s important to take an active
role by in participating in the activity. In addition, it’s helpful to point out connections to the
classroom curriculum and aiding the Arts Instructor with classroom management
