The Epiphany January 1, 2012 Church of the Holy Trinity, Guildwood 85 Livingston Road Scarborough, Ontario M1E 1K7 www.trinityguildwood.homestead.com find us on Facebook: Church of the Holy Trinity (Guildwood) email:trinityguildwood@rogers.com 416 261 9503 The Rev. Stephen Kirkegaard, Incumbent Welcome to Holy Trinity, Guildwood At Holy Trinity, Guildwood, we welcome all who come to worship with us. Though we are people of diverse background, lifestyle, and opinion, we are one in our desire to follow Jesus Christ. We seek to live as diversity in unity, offering a community in which we can all grow together as one Body: God’s Church. We hope the order of service will help you find your way, but feel free to ask your neighbour for help. Hymns can be found in the blue hymnal “Common Praise”. We are truly pleased that you have chosen to worship with us. Holy Communion: All are welcome in this church and at this altar. All baptized persons, including children, are invited to receive the bread and wine at Christ’s table. Those not receiving communion may wish to receive a blessing. Simply cross your hands over your chest to indicate you are not receiving communion. The Anglican Church supports the ancient use of the common cup. Those receiving the chalice are asked to assist the chalice bearer by grasping the cup at the base and guiding the cup to their lips. For health purposes the practice of intinction, dipping the bread into the wine, is discouraged. If you do not wish to drink from the common cup, please feel free to receive the bread only. Simply cross your hands over your chest when the chalice bearer passes by to indicate you do not wish the wine. The ancient teaching is that the whole Christ is received whether one receives only the consecrated bread or both bread and wine. Children are always welcome. They may want to stay upstairs in the church for worship or go into the lobby/Narthex area with a parent/caregiver. On Sundays, children are welcome to take part in the Sunday School program available downstairs during the 10:30 service. Parents are always invited to join us for some or all of the time downstairs. There will be no Sunday School today. For more information contact Patricia Eastman, Sunday School Co-ordinator (416) 261-7300, patricia.eastman@sympatico.ca. The Greeters or Sidespeople will be glad to answer any questions you may have. The Order of Service for 8:00 a.m. is on Page 5. Please turn off your cell phones. 2 The Epiphany January 1, 2012– 10:30 a.m. The Holy Eucharist Welcome Announcements Presider Almighty God, All to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets are hidden. Let us therefore pray for those who do not yet know the light and for all those in need of our prayers, saying: Let us pray to the Lord, “Lord, hear our prayer”. For the church and its ministry to the world, especially…, for all bishops and clergy, for missionaries, for all those who carry on the teaching of prophets and apostles, and for the full communion in life and worship of those who receive God’s word. Let us pray to the Lord, Lord, hear our prayer. For the nations of the world and their leaders, especially… for all those in authority, and for an end to war and oppression. Let us pray to the Lord, Lord, hear our prayer. For those who have not heard the good news of salvation, for those who have heard but have not believed, and for those who have forsaken their faith. Let us pray to the Lord, Lord, hear our prayer. For the lonely and destitute, for the victims of injustice and discrimination, for the unloved and the forgotten. Let us pray to the Lord, Lord, hear our prayer. For the sick in body, mind and spirit, for the hungry and the homeless, for the dying and the bereaved, and for all those in need of our prayers, especially… Let us pray to the Lord, Lord, hear our prayer. For this community of Holy Trinity, especially… that we be open to your gift of your Son, that we open up our own gifts to you, to our community and beyond. Let us pray to the Lord, Lord, hear our prayer. For the saints who have gone before us in the faith and are now at rest especially … and for all the saints on earth who surround us in a great fellowship of love. Let us pray to the Lord, Lord, hear our prayer. O God of stars and journeys, you lead us day by day to the joyful vision of your light. Move us by the power of your word that we too might open up our gifts for others and so receive in our hearts the child of Bethlehem. So may you be praised and adored through the same Christ our Lord, in the Holy Spirit, this day of your Epiphany, now and forever. Amen. 7 Assisting in Worship are: Presider ........................
