We are looking for an enthusiastic midwife to teach clinical skills to midwifery students and other health care
students/professionals in the Faculty of Life Science and Education. You will have up to date clinical skills and enjoy
demonstrating your practical knowledge to others. You will join other clinical skills trainers in our state- of-the- art
Simulation Centre and work with midwifery lecturers to teach students through skill acquisition and simulation of real life

Main Purpose of Job:
To Support teachers in skills development in students
Principal Responsibilities and Duties:

Demonstration/explanation of clinical skills during tutorials
Supervision of student practice following appropriate instruction
Correct and advise students on correct technique for skills
Supervise small groups of students with role play and scenario sessions
Preparation of room for appropriate skills demonstration, teaching and practice
Liaison with skills team leader/manager regarding student problems/progress
Risk assessment within the area
Health and Safety within the Simulation Centre
Maintenance of the environment
Maintenance, ordering and storage of equipment
Regularly to report to the Centre Manager regarding stock and maintenance issues
Suite booking
Filing student registers/skills documentation
Identify and recall students who have missed timetabled sessions and to liaise with the Centre Manager if
problems arise
Liaise with the Centre Manager regarding updating student clinical skill pre-reading booklets
Liaise with partner NHS Health Boards to ensure that skills taught reflect current practice
Close liaison with link lecturers regarding updating
Liaise with representatives/advisors of medical equipment manufacturing companies regarding updating
medical devices and teaching aids
Provide IT support for experiential learning
