50. Authorisations (1) The lists of those to be: Recognised and Regarded as Ministers or Deacons of the Methodist Church Authorised to Serve the Methodist Church as a Minister or Deacon Granted the Status of Associate Minister or Deacon and the text of the relevant Resolutions are to be found in the supplementary booklet ‘Ministerial and Diaconal Oversight and Authorisations’. PRESIDENCY AT THE LORD’S SUPPER The Authorisations Committee presents three lists to the Conference. List A records the recommendations of the Authorisations Committee on the initial applications and renewals at the end of a three-year term following examination of application forms and required documentation. Lists B and C set out the recommendations of the Authorisations Committee on renewals for a second or third year. The basis for these is that the District Policy Committees have indicated that there are no changes in the circumstances pertaining to the applications. When an application is received in respect of a probationer, it is accompanied by a document from their training institution affirming their willingness to accept an authorisation, and indicating their training in Methodist sacramental theology, liturgical principles of Methodist communion services, and the practical skills of conducting communion services. This satisfies criterion 4 (CPD, Book VI, Part 8). Applications in respect of lay persons resident in a Circuit usually indicate their willingness to accept an authorisation, and the support of their Circuit. However, the Committee was concerned that some applications made no mention of either theoretical or practical training, and District Chairs have been advised that in future assurance will be required that this has taken place before a lay person takes up their authorised duties (Standing Order 011 (6)). ***RESOLUTION 50/1. The Conference authorises the following persons to preside at the Lord’s Supper for the year commencing 1st September 2006 in accordance with the provisions of Standing Order 011. In the following lists: + denotes a probationer minister D denotes a deacon or diaconal probationer L denotes a lay person 438 50.
