Chief Medical Executive
Since 1911, Women’s College Hospital (WCH) has been a leader in access and innovation. WCH is entering its second century with the same spirit
and dedication that made their first hundred years such a remarkable success story. WCH is committed to revolutionizing health care as the first
and only independent ambulatory care hospital in Ontario, and the only hospital in Ontario with a primary focus on women's health. A teaching
hospital fully affiliated with the University of Toronto, WCH supports research in women's health and leads the way in training health-care
providers within an ambulatory setting. WCH continues to break new ground – literally, with the construction of the new hospital, and figuratively,
as they continue to develop revolutionary programs and health system solutions. WCH is seeking a new visionary leader, a Chief Medical
Executive, to build on their legacy of unparalleled caring.
The Chief Medical Executive (CME) will serve as a visionary partner to the CEO, Senior Team, Chief of Staff, and Department Chiefs to drive the
strategic plan through the engagement of physicians and other health care professionals. The CME will demonstrate outstanding leadership in the
evolution of the hospital by developing and executing the hospital's clinical and academic mandate, in partnership with the Senior Team. The CME
will continuously develop and maintain strong and productive partnerships with external stakeholders.
The successful candidate will have a strong belief in the mandate of Women’s College Hospital and the organization’s values combined with a clear
understanding of an ambulatory setting. S/he will have superb interpersonal, negotiation and change management skills combined with a financial
acumen and a solid history of providing leadership and team building with clinical staff. S/he will be a respected physician, eligible for medical
licensure in Ontario. Eligibility for academic appointment at the University of Toronto is required. An advanced level of education in business or
hospital administration is an asset.
