An exciting Permanent Full-Time opportunity as a Marketing and Communications Specialist exists in the
Strategic Communications Department.
Position Overview
WCH is looking for an experienced, proactive and highly motivated expert in marketing, branding, events and communications to become the organization's Marketing and Communications Specialist, Reporting to the
Director, Strategic Communications.
In this role you will be responsible for managing the hospital’s brand, communications campaigns and marketing materials. You will also be responsible for providing strategic communications council to various hospital departments; planning, developing and executing communications vehicles for various hospital projects;, writing articles and presentations for senior hospital staff, preparing and evaluating RFP’s, and planning hospital events.
You will work closely with the Strategic Communications team to ensure all communications initiatives – both traditional and digital – are integrated. You will also have the opportunity to work across many levels within the hospital, Women’s College Hospital Foundation and WC Research Institute, as well as several external agencies and vendors.

Key Accountabilities
Coordinate the development, design and printing of various communications materials including brochures, posters, annual report, patient handbook etc.
Work closely with departments and programs to understand their communications needs and provide strategic advice
Manage the WCH brand in all communications
Write articles, memos, speeches, presentations, creative briefs, RFP’s etc.
Develop, execute and evaluate events – both internal and external
Create communications materials – weekly updates, memos, posters etc. – promoting and informing various audiences about WCH projects, clinical services and events.
Assist with media relations and government relations
Develop and maintain strong relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders, including hospital staff from various departments, designers, printers, photographers, media and other stakeholders and partners
Work with external vendors, agencies and freelancers to manage the development of various projects
Assist in developing strategies to promote the hospital, research institute and foundation internally and externally
Provide leadership and mentoring to communications Intern and junior team members
Some administrative duties
Required Competencies
Expert project management skills, including management of deadlines, budgets and partner relationships
Understanding of all facets of marketing, branding and communications principles and best practices
Detail oriented with strong analytical, planning and organizational skills
Strong interpersonal skills and a service oriented attitude
Experience planning and executing small and large events and functions
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience managing external vendors, agencies, freelancers and partners
Comfortable working with team members and partners across various levels of seniority and background, including health professionals, researchers and administrators
Passion for new and emerging marketing, advertising and communications opportunities and an understanding of how they can be applied to benefit the organization
Ability to work in a complex environment that has a wide range of objectives, issues, stakeholders and operational factors
Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in communications, marketing or business
3- 5 years experience in communications and marketing.
Experience in non-profit, public sector or health care is an asset
