Weekly Letter #25
Dear Parents,
Thank you very much for taking the time to meet with me for our
Parent-Teacher Conferences. I truly enjoyed meeting with you to share your
child’s progress.
Due to last week’s snow days we were unable to begin the nonfiction

on that selection this week. Our vocabulary words will be: country, Earth,
and special. Our high frequency words are: over, town, and world. Our
comprehension skill will be to Classify/Categorize. Our phonics activities
will focus on the long vowel sound a made by the silent e as in gate. Our
language grammar activities will focus on using the pronouns I and me.
Our Lesson 20 spelling words will also focus on long a words. Six
words contain the long a sound. The review words will be feet and me.
The high frequency words will be know and also.
We are scheduled to continue Topic 13: Counting Money in Math this
week. We will:
-identify a quarter and find groups of coins that equal the value of a
quarter.
-count combinations of coins including quarters, dimes, nickels, and
pennies.
-introduce and identify the half dollar and dollar and their value.
-problem solve using money.
The students are also encouraged to take their flashcards home and practice
the basic addition facts each evening. We will also practice the facts each
day at school.
