Homework: Homework will be assigned every Monday and due the following Monday and returned the following Friday. Homework must be submitted before the beginning of class. No late Homework accepted. Re-grades of Homework will not be accepted beyond 1 week after return of homework. Examples of how the homework should be set up will be on the web page. Homework will account for 10% of the final grade. Each homework problem will be graded thusly: 2 pts if most to all correct; 1 point if there was a legitimate attempt. Many of the questions on the quizzes and exams will be similar to the homework assignments and the problems I do in class. Homework problems/solutions will be reviewed during Julie and Patrick’s office hours. Quizzes / Exams: On Aug 10th , 17th, 24th , and Sept 2nd during the last hour of class there will be a quiz/exam on the material from the previous week. The last two quizzes will be closed book and closed notes but a sheet of equations from the relevant chapter (and posted on the web) will be provided. Each of the first three quizzes will be worth 20% of your grade, and the last will be worth 30%. No cell phones or calculators. Grading: Homework: 10% Exam Aug 10th (ch8): 20% Exam Aug 17th (ch9a): 20% Exam Aug 24th (ch9b): 20% Exam Sept 2nd (ch11, ch12-1 to 12-5): 30% Academic Policy: Students are encouraged to discuss course topics and homework problems with each other. However, each student must submit their own work on homework, quizzes and exams.
