Appendix B: Prompts [Return to Position Statements]
Small-Scale Service Chair
A goal that the service chairs should have in mind when creating service projects is to make their service meaningful. What do
you think is a “meaningful” service project? Based on your interpretation, describe two small-scale service projects you are
interested in planning. How will you make service more “meaningful” with the projects you have in mind while ensuring a
variety of service opportunities? In addition, how will you promote your service projects to the members of our club and other
campus organizations?
Large-Scale Service Chair
Using a budget of $800, describe in detail one new large-scale service project that you are interested in planning. With this
event, explain how you would foster collaboration and strong relations within our Kiwanis family and between other student
organizations on campus. Explain the meaningful impact this project would have on both the community and the volunteers.
Kiwanis Family Networking Chair (CKI, Aktion, Kiwanis)
Describe a new method you would use to promote participation of Circle K alumni in our activities, and another
method to strengthen our relations within the Metro Division. In addition, describe a project you would like to co-host
or create to improve relations with our sponsoring Kiwanis Club.
Kiwanis Family Youth Chair (Key Club, KIWIN’S, Builder’s, K-Kids)
Describe at least two different methods you would use to reach out or work with the high school branches of the
Kiwanis family beyond Key to College. Additionally, describe two new service events you could implement with either
K-Kids or Builders Club.
Large Scale Fundraising
With a budget of $200, describe a large-scale fundraising event that you would be interested in planning, including
estimated profit. How would this event attract people outside of Circle K International and how would you educate
these people on the three District Fundraising Initiatives? Furthermore, how would you collaborate with the other
committees to execute this event?
Small Scale Fundraising
Describe two small-scale fundraisers and include estimated cost and profit. How would you promote these fundraisers
to attract not only members of the club but also the UCLA community? How would these fundraisers differ from the
typical fundraising events? Furthermore, how would you collaborate with the other committees to execute these events?
Membership Development and Education Chair
Describe a way to incorporate education within the family system. Looking at what you feel the clubs lacks, how will the
incorporation of education help? In addition, describe a large scale family event that would help define the family
system, but also promote club unity.
Member Experience and Retention Chair
Describe what you think defines the role of a godparent. In this position, you are required to plan an event that targets
the “experience” of the members, what is the difference between a member “experience” event and a fellowship event?
How will defining this improve member retention? In addition, what is one idea you have for member retention?
Graphic Design Chair
Design and describe two apparel ideas: 1. for new CKI apparel (i.e. shirt, sweater, beanie, etc.) that would appeal to all of
Circle K International, and 2. for a club t-shirt with the hypothetical theme of "Marvel" without using copyrighted
characters, encompassing the three tenets of Service, Leadership, and Fellowship. Please attach a sketch/draft of both
designs.

changes would benefit the club and the members. In addition, how will you work with the Secretary to efficiently update
membership information such as service hours, MRP requirements, and standing?

Spirit and Recognition Chair
What is the purpose of spirit to our membership? Suggest a general meeting theme and describe how it would appeal to
members and promote interactivity. In addition, describe one new way of recognizing members. What do you think is
the purpose behind recognition?
Fellowship Chair
Describe one new large-scale social for Circle K and describe the steps you would take in planning it. How would this
event impact the members in a more meaningful way beyond social interactions? How will you help to maintain these
relationships and interactions after the event?
Media Relations Chair
Describe an idea for a social media contest that incorporates the 3 tenets of Circle K, and how you would encourage the
Circle K members to actively participate in the contest. In addition, indicate how you would ensure that each event
UCLA Circle K holds is documented.
Campus Outreach Chair
Describe two new ways you would publicize UCLA Circle K to our campus community and one Bruin Walk tabling
activity to boost members' presence at the table. In the event that an organization or contact is being unresponsive, how
will you address this issue?
Signature Event Chair
Describe in detail a potential signature event that you would like to plan. Why would this be an appealing event? How
will this event be different from other events at UCLA? In addition, how will you publicize it to the UCLA community?
This signature event may require extensive funding – how will you come up with a unique fundraiser that has not been
hosted by our club before?
Winter Leadership Conference Chair
What do you think is the purpose of Winter Leadership Conference? Why is it something we should host? In addition,
describe your vision for such an event and the role you have for alumni and professional facilitators during the event.
