d. Insert a tolerance of 0.006 inches (use plus/minus 0.003”) on all linear
dimensions and a tolerance of 0.002 inches (use plus/minus 0.001”) on
diameters of holes

Determine dimensions of a shaft and a hole system when the basic size is
12 inches. Use the ANSI Running and Sliding Fits (RC) Table (Class
RC9) in Appendix 3 of your text. Specifically,
a) Find the size of the hole (MAX, MIN)
b) Find the size of the SHAFT (MAX, MIN)
c) Determine max and min clearance/interference and write
clearance or interference next to your result
d) Find shaft tolerance
e) Find hole tolerance
f) Find system tolerance
