Sr. GIS Technician Development – Land Houston BASIC PURPOSE OF POSITION: Prepare complete and accurate maps, drawings, charts, exhibits, and plats ; integrating mapping, drafting and graphic techniques and procedures with the operation and application of mapping (GIS), computer-aided design (CAD) and other specialized graphics equipment and software. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for providing mapping, drafting and graphics support to meet the business objectives of the Company, and also including but not limited to special projects, A&D, engineering, geoscience, and operations departments. Compile and maintain lease maps utilizing multiple data sources including shape files, geo-databases, public and proprietary databases and aerial and satellite imagery Consult with geological and geo technical data management staff, consultants and contractors concerning the GIS computer mapping and database systems to ensure the software, processes and procedures are performing as expected. Other projects and tasks as assigned. POSITION SPECIFICATIONS: Associates Degree in GIS technology is preferred; Bachelor’s Degree in Geography or related field is acceptable. At least 8 years of experience working with ArcGIS, AutoCAD and other graphic arts software Thorough knowledge of technical application, concepts, principles and theories in GIS. Working knowledge of GIS technical processes and routines for the delivery of quality GIS and cartographic work products Ability to review and analyze Leases, Assignments, Deeds, Mineral run Sheets, Title Opinions, Abstracts of Title, and Easements; ability to map metes & bounds and create polygons from same Able to prioritize and schedule workload; ability to work in high stress environment to meet deadlines Highly self-motivated and able to work with little supervision Applied experience with Esri software, especially the ArcGIS suite: ArcMap, ArcCatalog and ArcToolbox. Proficient in the use of ARC/GIS 10 and AutoCAD and other graphic and presentation applications such as, AdobePro, CorelDraw, PhotoPaint and PowerPoint.
