Job Purpose:
To undertake cross-sectional and longitudinal analysis of a large data set of a cohort of patients treated
for colorectal cancer – the CREW Study – to understand patterns of recovery and support writing of
reports and papers for publication.
Key Accountabilities/Primary Responsibilities:
% Time

To design and conduct analysis (with support from a statistician) of crosssectional and, particularly, longitudinal quantitative data sets to estimate the
impact of cancer treatment on survivors and understand who might be at risk to
protracted recovery.

To carry out administrative tasks associated with analysis including, planning
and arranging meetings, data cleaning and database management and
associated tasks. Implementation of procedures required to ensure accurate and
timely analysis.
5%

To assist with the dissemination of findings by making a substantial contribution
to preparing reports/papers for publications. Under supervision draft scientific
papers and reports and contribute to the overall preparation of research for
dissemination. Presenting results at conferences, or exhibiting work at other
appropriate events.

Internal & External Relationships:
Internal:
 Working closely with multidisciplinary members of the research team (throughout the
University) involved in the CREW study.

The post holder will be an active member of the Southampton Statistical Sciences Research
Institute (S3RI).

With other members of S3RI, for research discussions.
External: Communication with Study Advisory Group, and other stakeholders including people affected
by cancer
