Job Description & Person Specification Last updated: September 2015 JOB DESCRIPTION Post title: Cleanroom Process Integration Engineer Academic Unit/Service: Electronics and Computer Science Faculty: Faculty of Physical Sciences and Engineering Career pathway: ERE *ERE category: Enterprise pathway Posts responsible to: ECSP Commercial Processing Manager Posts responsible for: External Visiting Process Engineers from client organisations Post base: Non Office-based (see job hazard analysis) Level: 4 Job purpose The Faculty has a significant number and variety of commercial consulting and processing activities for client organisations throughout the world. The work is undertaken by a team of Commercial Integration Process Engineers and by accessing the research community within the Faculty. The job is a clean room based Integration Process Engineer who will have experience in a broad range of clean room processes including lithography, deposition, etch and other wafer scale processing in order to be able to work with a wide range of clients to specify and deliver their fabrication needs. Key accountabilities/primary responsibilities % Time 1. Interact with clients to ensure requirements are captured and projects are appropriately defined, process flows developed and documented. Attend customer meetings and respond in a timely manner to enquires from clients, providing guidance on feasibility of any processing requests. Estimate resources required to deliver the projects and develop with Business Development staff appropriate quotes for customers. 2. Undertake processing activities, resolve day to day processing issues and manage the 65 timely delivery to meet client expectations. Record any processing outcomes and variations. Ensure the quality of delivered processing, undertaking appropriate characterisation and inspection. Agree any required rework as necessary. Enhance personal processing expertise and development of stock processes. Research and develop new processes as needed. 10 Key accountabilities/primary responsibilities % Time 3. Ensure effective project management in delivery of projects, communicating effectively with the Commercial Processing Manager on delivery expectations and deal with any issues. Agree timing/resourcing of any work and coordinate the activities of others to deliver projects. Agree appropriate machine use and processes with the Clean Room Complex Manager and technician staff. Coordinate with any external suppliers. Ensure smooth communication with clients as required. 4. Understand the device architecture and any technology design rules where the industrial 5 client has engaged in a Commercial Processing activity for a complete Device. Help define test structures for process integration and development and design statistical experiments and analyse results to optimize processes. 5. Support the activities of Commercial Processing Manager as required. Undertake marketing 5 activities including but not limited to activities such as attending exhibitions, preparing marketing materials, visiting clients. 6. Administration and reporting, for example tool booking, risk assessments, project meetings, documentation, preparation of reports, time tracking. 10 5 Internal and external relationships Internally manage project delivery and coordinate contributions from others such as technicians and tool owners. The post holder will be responsible for overall execution of agreed projects, delivery and quality of client deliverables and co-ordinate the day-to-day activities and machines assigned to work on tasks. Externally the post holder will undertake liaison with clients to ensure the successful delivery of their requirements and will advise clients on how best to deliver their processing needs. The post holder will be responsible for any visiting process engineers from commercial clients. PERSON SPECIFICATION Criteria Essential Desirable Qualifications, knowledge and experience Postgraduate qualification (MSc or PhD) or equivalent professional qualifications and experience in a clean room related discipline. Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or related discipline and/or proven industrial experience of clean room processing. How to be assessed CV/Interview Significant and demonstrable experience of development and delivery of clean room fabrication outcomes for clients. Strong cleanroom process design and development experience. Ability to establish quality and characterisation procedures to deliver quality outcomes to clients and be responsive to any issues they raise. Planning and organising Document1 Able to plan and schedule their own and the work of others to meet multiple concurrent projects and minimise impact of other users of the Clean Room Complex.
