POSITION TITLE: Student Financial Aid & Student Accounts Officer

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:
To develop and implement an annual financial aid strategy in conjunction with the
Program Directors and the Directors of Recruitment and Admissions in order to recruit
superior quality candidates to the MBA, MSc, HBA and AEO Programs.
To educate, inform and refer all Ivey students to available funding. This funding will be
in the form of Ivey Scholarships and Awards, Western bursaries and private and
government loans. This is accomplished by building and maintaining effective
relationships with Ivey Advancement, Western University, private financial institutions,
and partners of the School.

In conjunction with the Associate Dean Programs and the Program Directors of
Recruitment and Admissions, develop and implement a financial aid strategy that will
attract superior quality students to Ivey’s MBA, MSC, HBA and AEO programs.
Increase the accessibility of student loans to exceptional candidates who are targeted by
Ivey and who require financial assistance. This will be accomplished by building and
maintaining effective relationships with selected financial institutions and Advancement.
Proactively manage available scholarship funds with selected superior students of the
MBA, MSC, HBA, AEO, and PhD Programs.
Provide greater accessibility for MBA, MSC, HBA and AEO students to loans,
scholarships and other financial aid.
Track and manage student accounts to ensure all fees are paid on time. Address any
unpaid student accounts with appropriate Program Director(s).
 Work closely with each Program Director (HBA/MBA/MSc) to outline which
course material and/or program fees will be applied to the student account
throughout the duration of their time in the Program.
 Track and manage the student accounts to ensure fees have been applied and
paid on time. Work with the appropriate Program Coordinator to rectify incorrect
course material fees on student accounts.


Ensure student accounts are in good standing and address delinquent accounts
with appropriate Program Director. Directly follow up with students with
outstanding accounts, involving the Program and Faculty Directors where
appropriate.
The Financial Aid Officer will continue to work with Western regarding delinquent
accounts and academic sealing.

MAIN ACTIVITIES:
 Liaise with Programs Directors of Recruitment and Admissions for strategic
management and allocation of available scholarship funds.
 Build and maintain relationships with local financial institutions to facilitate
financial aid for superior students requiring assistance to enter Ivey Programs.
 Counsel students in financial difficulty. Link students with banks, OSAP or other
external resources required to assist them.
 Responsible for all aspects of financial aid for students of the Business School.
 Administer scholarships. Disburse funds to student accounts.
OTHER ACTIVITIES:




Match donor agreements with appropriate Ivey students.
Communicate scholarship information with the Stewardship function in
Advancement.
Review new donor agreements.
Advise Advancement on new scholarship needs i.e. assist Advancement by
providing them with relevant information regarding Ivey students and their
specific needs.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:













University degree.
A minimum of 5 years relevant administrative experience in an educational
environment is preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the programs and strategic
direction of the Ivey Business School.
Ability to acquire an excellent understanding of Ivey donor agreements.
Thorough understanding of student financial aid and scholarship programs.
Professional presence and the ability to interact effectively with Ivey Program
Directors, students, financial institutions, corporate sponsors and other external
constituents relevant to the student financial aid.
Ability to develop and implement financial aid programs that will assist in the
achievement of the School’s strategic goals.
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
Excellent team skills to work with relevant partners in the School.
Maturity and good judgment to handle stressful and occasionally confrontational
situations. Ability to work with confidential information.
Leadership skills and the ability to make decisions independently.
Experience developing and administering budgets; ability to analyze and report
on trends.
Competent computer skills: Excel, Word, Microsoft Office suite of products,
databases, experience with PeopleSoft and Maximizer preferred.
This is a two year renewable contract position with competitive salary and
