Monthly Report October 2012
Highlights:
 The BVN Library had record numbers of students in the library with classes. We served over 225 classes in October!
 Students in Mr. Phifer’s Algebra 2 class and Mr. Chonko and Mrs. Reynold’s Honors Algebra 2 classes completed the
parabola project. This project incorporated several software tools and web apps as well as online student communication.

 Students in Mr. Ollig, Mrs. Juraschek and Mrs. Morgan’s Honors Biology classes began their science projects with a preresearch assignment. Students worked in groups to find and evaluate articles for their review of literature.
 More seniors began the research paper process by completing the research practice assignment and the essential question
activity. A total of 7 senior classes are currently involved in this project.
 A former student, Marine Captain David Beehler presented the school with a flag flown over Afghanistan and spoke to a large
group of students.
 Mrs. Petzold’s science classes created online cartoons using kerpoof.com to compare information that they learned about the
Mars Curiosity Rover and Neil Armstrong’s moon walk. Click here to view awesome work from our FOCUS students!
 Students in Mrs. Johnson-Berry and Ms. Younger’s CA classes read short stories from the library collection and wrote their
own short stories. They created online flipping books about their stories. Click here to view this great work.
