The forum seeks to work together with the Local Services (Education, Social Care), and NHS who are actively involved and included in the design, development, implementation and evaluation of the services accessed by Children 0-25 and families with special educational needs and disabilities Luton Parent Carer Forum is independent and voluntary, parent led, which means that the forum will decide its own priorities and how it would like to be involved within the local authority decision making process. There is a national support from Contact a Family and the National Network of Parent Carer Forums (NNPCF), which also enables parents’ views to be fed back nationally. Support is offered throughout the year by individual support with a mentor, group work on a variety of topics, social events and a drop in facility. Children/young people supported by the Mentoring Service are also able to access the recreational therapeutic programme to gain new experiences and develop their self-worth, resilience and team working skills.
