My Fellow Lions,

Our International President, Sid Scruggs’ theme for this

Lions Year is

“A Beacon of Hope”. To me it is a refreshing change as it will move our focus back to our roots. As you all know the Lions Club was founded in 1917 by Melvin

Jones. It was founded as a service club and this year our focus will move back to service.

For this year of Lions service I ask you all to look at your club activities. Pick a signature service project for your club.

It may be one that you have been successfully promoting for many years. It may be a project that you have just started and your club members are excited and active in. If you find yourself struggling with a choice for a project it may be time for a club renewal and community needs assessment that you can find at the following link http://www.lionsclubs.org/EN/common/pdfs/mk9.pdf

I encourage you all to find that service project that will excite your members, promote Lions within your communities, and offer a needed hand to the members of your community.

Please remember that the Leadership Team of District 14-F

(The Finest) is here to help you. I will be visiting all of you during the upcoming year and want to make sure you are getting the support you need. As always I am available by either phone or email. God bless you all and have a fine

Lions Year.

DG Dave

GREENE TOWNSHIP

DISTRICT GOVERNOR’S VISIT

The District Governor is an International Officer recognized and authorized by Lions at District level.

The Lion elected to this high office was chosen because the Lions of the District believed in his/her ability, talents and dedication to Lionism. Accordingly, the proper recognition and respect for the Lion holding this esteemed office requires careful attention of the member club comprising the District organization.

No one would intentionally plan to be inconsiderate and certainly not rude. On occasion, however, club officers lack the needed information to insure a smooth operation. Hopefully, the following list of suggestions will prove helpful.

PROTOCOL

What is Protocol? A humorist defines it as the

Science of the seats because the term is often applied to the seating arrangement of officers, dignitaries and guests. In our International organization, we sincerely try to respect rank, which is the basis of a perfectly organized society. We do no subscribe to Protocol simply because of a desire to outshine, but rather to prove that we are organized and have respect for the fundamental concepts of discipline which we have imposed upon ourselves voluntarily.

Protocol, therefore, is the order of precedence which must be established in any organization. The following is but a glossary of the most important and most common facets by all clubs. It is to be understood that to anticipate any and all unusual circumstances would be impracticable.

Justice for all.

Bless now this food that we partake, and every effort that we make, to build the towns in which we live.

Be with us till we meet again, and bless our land and our homes.

SERVICE OF REMEMBRANCE

Fellow Lions, we are gathered here tonight to honor and pay respects to Lion ___________ a member of the ______________ Lions Club.

He/She became a member in the year

________ and served in the following offices:

_____________________________.

Our club has suffered the loss of a beloved member, a respected citizen of our community, dedicated to helping his/her fellow man, and serving his/her community through his/her clu b’s endeavors. His/her passing is a great loss and he/she will not be soon forgotten, not by his/her club nor those who have benefited by his/her generosity, his/her hard work and loving service. God created man and woman for the purpose of serving him, and as we help others, we serve God. Perhaps all of us at one time or another have asked ourselves the question “Am I my brother’s keeper?”

Lion _______ answered that question by the way he/she dedicated himself/herself to helping his/her fellow man. The Scriptures state man’s life is but three score and ten, and we pass this way but once. Lion _________ journeyed through this land, and we pray that

God approved of the work he/she committed himself/herself to do. It takes a person with compassion in his/her heart to sacrifice his/her time and talents in helping others and Lion

________ was a person dedicated to that end.

27

Read the 23

rd

Psalm

:

The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Amen

CLUB CONDOLENCES

On behalf of Lions International and the ______

Lions Club, and the community which we represent as the representative club, I extend our condolence to, the family of Lion

____________.

We know that the circle has been broken, not only in your home, but likewise in our club where Lion ______ had served. He/She shall be missed in the home, in the family, in the church, in the community and in our club.

And now, our Lord Jesus Christ, Himself, and our God and Father, who has loved us and given us ever-lasting consolation and good hope by grace, comfort your hearts and establish you in every good word and work.

Amen.

We wish to present you with this plaque in memory of our dearly departed fellow Lion.

(Do this if the club wishes to do so.)
