Call for applicants to join an Approved
(External) Supplier List
Learning and Teaching Solutions (LTS) is the media production arm of The Open University.
The Open University delivers teaching and learning to students using a broad range of media,
increasingly as integrated multi- and multiple-media via the internet through its Virtual
Learning Environment (VLE), CD and DVD.
We are updating our list of professional suppliers to deliver innovative interactive multi- and
multiple-media learning in a web-based world.
We are looking for production companies with considerable experience in integrated
educational media production. Although you may have started out making conventional
products for broadcast or education, you can now demonstrate creative solutions that
exploit the learning opportunities of digital media. You can show that you have understood
the liberating opportunities of a converged digital world freed from the constraints of
conventional genres, delivery channels and their grammar.

Complete the accompanying Application To Join External Supplier List (also found at
www3.open.ac.uk/employmment ) and return to LTS-Recruitment@open.ac.uk by
Thursday 7th February at the latest. At this stage do not send any examples of your
work, or links to websites showing your work.
Existing suppliers are reminded that they do not have to reapply as they are part of a
separate process.
The Selection Process.
Selection to the list is a three staged process. Companies will be shortlisted purely on
the basis of their application, and will be selected against the weighted criteria of
Company Information, (Company) Business Objective, Staff & Resourcing, Creativity,
Quality & Communication, Business Relationships and References.
Shortlisted companies will be called for interview. Interviews will be conducted in the
week of March 17th to 21st. Shortlisted companies will at that stage be invited to show
three complete examples of their work that reflect their skills, creativity and range of
experience. Applicants will be notified in early April.
