Nuance and NextGen Healthcare Partner to Deliver Breakthrough, Directto-EHR Scanning with eCopy ShareScan
New Connector to enable clinics and healthcare organizations to scan into the
EHR from MFPs at the point-of-care for faster, more efficient patient care; Nuance
to demonstrate the Connector at HIMSS booth #3765
HIMSS Conference, Orlando – February 26, 2014 – Nuance Communications, Inc. today
announced that it has developed the only multi-functioning printer (MFP) scanning solution that
allows users to scan documents directly into the NextGen Healthcare electronic healthcare
records (EHR) document management system from a range of scanners and multi-function
printers (MFP). NextGen Healthcare Information Systems, LLC. is a wholly owned subsidiary of
Quality Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: QSII) and a leading provider of healthcare information
systems and connectivity solutions.
The Nuance NextGen Healthcare Connector integrates eCopy ShareScan, Nuance’s industry
leading document workflow and scanning solution, and NextGen® Ambulatory EHR thereby
eliminating the manual process of indexing electronic health records with keywords after
scanning. The new solution accelerates paper capture at distributed points of care into the
NextGen Ambulatory EHR and completes the patient record in the EHR to increase patient
safety, raise physician satisfaction and streamline the EHR process for enhanced productivity.

The Nuance NextGen Healthcare Connector enables more efficient clinical workflow and patient
care. In addition, it can assist healthcare organizations with meeting standards established by the
U.S. government for meaningful use, which governs the use of electronic health records and
allows eligible providers and hospitals to earn incentive payments based on specific criteria.
NextGen Healthcare optimizes document management for physician practices throughout the
U.S. with its EHR software, which organizes digitized medical records and aids in practice
management. The Nuance NextGen Healthcare Connector enables clinics and other healthcare
facilities to use existing MFPs at or near the point of care. With a few simple button presses, a
document can be scanned and indexed in the NextGen Ambulatory EHR for insertion in clinical
