AREA OF CONSIDERATION: Korea-wide. All U.S. citizen applicants who are not ordinarily residents of

MAJOR DUTIES: Under the lead of a full performance specialist, performs highly structured entry-level
work assignments designed to develop broader and more in-depth knowledge and skill needed to perform
higher-level assignments. Using acceptable systems administration methods and procedures monitors and
troubleshoots systems availability. The employee uses a number of guidelines that are directly applicable to the
assignment. Applies system administration methods and procedures; performance monitoring methods; and
analytical methods to verify security, operability and functionality. Runs systems backups, file restoration and
systems recovery. Serves as a member of a team responsible for planning and managing large-scale server
deployment. Recognizes and refers problems to more experienced specialists. Interprets IT policies, standards
and guidelines. Applies information security and information assurance policy, principles, and practices.
Serves as a point of contact for resolving customer questions or problems concerning Information Technology
(IT) automation systems, software and/or hardware problems, password violations, and telecommunication
troubles and work orders. Diagnoses and resolves problems in response to customer reported incidents;
researches, evaluates, and provides feedback on problematic trends and patterns in customer support
requirements; develops and maintains problem tracking and resolutions databases; installs, configures,
troubleshoots, and maintains hardware and software ensuring the rigorous application of information
security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of customer support services.
Develops, coordinates, and assists in the installation, configuration, utilization, and operation of IT equipment
as either stand-alone equipment or connected to a network. Assists in the review of functional user justifications
and requirements for new or additional IT capabilities in the form of hardware, software, and/or communication
equipment. Recommends alternate solutions if the submitted justification does not fully support the requested
functional capabilities. Plans, organizes, and distributes PCs. Reviews software available from vendors to run
on a personal computer network using established requirements. Provides technical support to users for
computer software. Installs new software versions, and updates; adapts, configures, and tests computer
software, hardware, and/or user systems for effective integration of software systems. Analyzes software system
failures. Performs emergency virus rescue operations by isolating problems, tracking the infection, removing
the virus, and counseling employees. Instructs users on proper use of software systems to improve usage of
microcomputers. Prepares and disseminates information, makes recommendations on the potential use with the
command of the new developments in IT.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Work experience, education, and/or specialized training sufficient to
demonstrate knowledge and skill in:
- Performing highly structured, entry level work designed to develop broader and more in-depth
knowledge and skill needed to perform higher level assignments;
- Systems administration concepts and methods.
- Analytical methods;
- It security principals; and
- Performance monitoring methods;
- Communicating factual and procedural information clearly, orally and in writing,
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Appointment subject to a satisfactory completion of a security
Investigation (ADPI) to include Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI). Installation Background
Checks are required for all positions. Satisfactory Background Checks are a condition of employment for all
employees.

Current/Former APF employees must submit a copy of the most recent SF 50 reflecting their current
appointment status. (4) Veterans must submit a copy of the Member 4 page of the DD 214 that reflects the
nature of their discharge. (5) Family members of U.S. active duty military and DOD civilian employees
assigned to Korea must submit a copy of their sponsor’s travel orders to verify their claim for spouse or family
member employment preference. (6) Off duty military must submit a letter from his/her commander authorizing
off-duty employment. (7) When education is a firm requirement for the position, copies of college transcripts
must be submitted. (8)All applicants must provide copies of his/her passport and the visa stamp except off duty

PRIORITY CONSIDERATION FOR NF-3 AND BELOW AND ALL PREVAILING RATE
POSITIONS:
1. Spouse Employment Preference (SEP): Spouse of Military personnel assigned to Korea or married prior to
sponsor’s PCS to Korea (SEP must be requested at the time of application by writing “SEP/MSP” on the top
margin of the application). Refusal of a military spouse to participate in established recruitment procedures
(i.e. interviews, etc.) is considered a declination of employment and is a basis for termination of SEP/MSP
entitlement for the current PCS of the sponsor.

OTHER ESSENTIAL INFORMATION:
1. Male candidates who are between 18 and 26 years of age are required to submit proof of registration with
the Selective Service or proof of exemption.
2. Candidates eligible for preference such as veteran preference, military spouse preference, priority repromotion consideration, etc., must submit proof of eligibility and will be accorded consideration in the
appropriate order as established by law, regulation and/or policy.
