IMPACT OF LOCATION, CLIMATE,
AND PHYSICAL CHARACTER ON
SOUTHERN AND EASTERN ASIA
 India-
Most people live along the fertile
river valleys and the great rivers. The
climate of India is affected by seasonal
winds called monsoons.
 China- Most of China’s one billion people
live in the mild and temperate climate of
China. This is where you find the great
river valleys and most fertile farmland.
 Japan-
an island nation of the far eastern
edge of East Asia, has climate affected by
ocean currents. The warmer parts of the
country are able to have longer growing
seasons for farmers. Japan experiences
typhoons.
 North Korea has short summers and long
winters. The land is mountainous and not
as heavily populated as South Korea
 South
Korea- has fewer mountains and a
milder climate than North Korea. Many
South Korea’s live in Seoul, South Korea’s
largest city. Farming is more widely
practiced here than in the mountainous
north.
 Vietnam- has a warm and tropical climate
that is conducive to rice crops. 90% of the
worlds rice is grown in Vietnam.
