Editing report
The most important aspects to consider when editing.
In my opinion the most important aspect to consider is timing, this is essential for any
project relating because if you don't get that right the piece will lose meaning and impact.
Offline editing
Offline editing is part of the Post-production in which raw footage is copied and edited
without affecting the original recording.
Online editing
Online editing is the final stage of post-production which takes place after offline editing.
The purpose of editing
We edit for many reasons the core reasons are to make sure everything flows and to add
our own design and effects.
Use of editing in silent films.
Many techniques of editing were used in the silent film era for example Alfred Hitchcock
who used frame for emotion in which he would strategically placed the camera to get the
emotions he wanted example a close-up to convey sadness or a wide-shot to convey a less
extreme emotion.
My likes and dislikes
I enjoy editing because I get to play around with different effects, my dislike is that it can
be quite fruitioning at times.
Qualifications for editors
You don't need set qualifications to become a film editor the skills you'll need are graphic
design,visual art and a media studies qualification.
