1.
What voltage and horse power (HP) ranges will be available in the initial release?
The initial launch will have drives available for both 400/460V AC applications. The power ranges are as
follows:
7.5…250 kW at 400V AC & 540V DC input
10…350 Hp at 480V AC & 650V DC input

What is the overload capability of the drive?
Normal Duty
– Continuous operation at rated output current
– 110% Overload for 1 minute every 10 minutes
– 150% Overload for 3 seconds every 1 minute
Heavy Duty
– Continuous operation at the appropriate rated output current
– 150% Overload for 1 minute every 10 minutes
– 180% Overload for 3 seconds every 1 minute

Is there a plan for a 200V and 600V Class version of this drive?
Yes, we plan to have a 200V AC and 600/690V AC version of the PowerFlex 755 drive. Release schedules
are being defined and will be published in a future update of this document. Please contact the Product
manager for additional information.

Where is this drive positioned within the PowerFlex family?
The PowerFlex 755 provides increased system productivity along with basic and enhanced safety options to
provide greater functionality across manufacturing systems. Designed for ease of integration, application
flexibility, and performance, at initial release the PowerFlex 755 is positioned between the PowerFlex 700
and PowerFlex 700S.

What certifications does this drive have?
The PowerFlex 755 drive has CE, EMC EN61800-3, Low Voltage EN61800-5-1, UL, cUL, C-Tick, TUV FS,
and SEMI F47 certifications and ROHS compliance for world wide applications support.

What enclosure types are available with this drive?

How many digital inputs and outputs are available?
The I/O count is determined by the number of I/O option cards configured. The PowerFlex 755 can be
configured to use as many as 5 I/O options cards. One Option card can have as many as 6 inputs and 3
outputs.

What feedback interfaces are available with this drive?
Incremental, EnDat and Hiperface for Stegmann and Heidenhain high
resolution feedback, SSI for Stahltronis and Temposonics and BiSS for linear feedback

Is this drive supported by drive software tools for startup and configuration?
Yes, the PowerFlex 755 is supported by the following:

What versions of DriveExplorer and DriveTools SP / DriveExecutive can be used with the
PowerFlex 755?
The PowerFlex 755 is supported by v6.01 or higher of DriveExplorer and v5.01 or higher of DriveTools SP /
DriveExecutive. Older versions of drive software tools should not be used. Support includes startup wizards
for the drive and the Safe Speed Monitor option.

What is DeviceLogix and how is it used in this drive?
DeviceLogix is an embedded control technology in some Allen-Bradley products that can control outputs and
manage status information onboard a device. In the PowerFlex 755, DeviceLogix is used to provide
additional control capability at the drive level based on application needs. A function block based program
can be configured to control drive functions and physical and networked I/O.

How is DeviceLogix programmed in the PowerFlex 755?
The PowerFlex 755 DeviceLogix is programmed using:
v6.01 or higher of DriveExplorer
v5.01 or higher of DriveTools SP / DriveExecutive
v2.01 or higher of RSLogix 5000 Drive AOPs
The DeviceLogix editor in RSNetWorx for DeviceNet can not be used.

Is DeviceLogix network dependant in the PowerFlex 755?
No, DeviceLogix is not network dependant with the PowerFlex 755.

Is there a RSLogix 5000 Add-On Profile (AOP) available for the PowerFlex 755?
Yes, it is available in the v2.01 release of Drive AOPs and it can be downloaded at:

Are control options factory installed?
No, the PowerFlex 755 base drive can be ordered with option kits separately. Base drive configurable
options includes the drive rating, enclosure type, DC terminals, internal brake resistor and braking transistor.
20.
What are benefits of the Safe Speed Monitor option?
The Safe Speed Monitor Safety option combines Safe Torque-Off capability and embedded Safety relay with
the Rockwell Automation Safe-Speed Control core technology in one hardware option that is embedded in
the drive. This option helps save space, reduces system wiring and complexity by allowing input devices to
be connected directly to the PowerFlex 755, and is certified at PLe/SIL3.

What is Rockwell Automation’s Safe-Speed Control core technology?
Rockwell Automation’s Safe-Speed Control core technology gives the drive the ability to reduce and monitor
the speed of a motor driven application to a point that helps allow an operator to safely inspect and perform
some process maintenance work without stopping the machine completely. This core technology is
embedded in the PowerFlex 755 and MSR57 currently supporting the following functionality:
