Course Description: Introduction and practical application of advanced statistical analyses and their use/application in Health Services (research, management, policy analysis) using various software applications (STATA, Microsoft Excel and Access, SAS, SPSS, MINITAB).Topics include analysis of variance (one and two way) and design of experiments, multiple regression, model building, Chi-square and the analysis of contingency tables, and nonparametric statistics. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to: 1. Demonstrate mastery of the essential concepts in hypothesis testing, probability models, and statistical inference. 2. Apply what has been learned to the solution of practical problems through the development, evaluation, and selection of various statistical techniques. 3. Conduct statistical analysis using nonparametric and parametric techniques. 4. Perform statistical analyses using statistical software such as STATA, SPSS, Excel, MINITAB. 5. Interpret results, draw conclusions and prepare statistical reports as they apply to health services research. 6. Build critical/analytical thinking.
