Redfield: The funeral service for Carl A. Neu, 83, of
Redfield will be 1 p.m. Monday at Messiah Lutheran
Church in Redfield. Rev. Peter Utecht will lead the service.
Burial will be in Rockham Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Messiah Lutheran
Church and for two hours prior to the service on Monday at the church.
Carl Ambrose Neu was born Oct. 6, 1927, in Redfield to
Jake and Blanche (Linn) Neu. He attended Rockham and
Miller Schools, graduating from Miller High School in
1945.
He farmed with his father and brother, Linn, raising purebred Hereford cattle south of Rockham.
He married Thelma Peterman on Jan. 17, 1949. They raised four children: Ellen, Gerry, Dale and Kenny.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, lawn work, watching and attending rodeos and car racing. He was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church all his life.
He retired in 1989 and moved to Redfield.
Carl died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010, at his residence in Redfield.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Thelma; brother: Linn (Mavonne) of Rockham; a daughter, Ellen Meyer of Columbus, Ohio; three sons: Gerry (Diana) of Rockham, Dale of
Rockham and Kenny (Melinda) of Redfield; grandchildren: Shane Wright, Joey Wright, Misty
Lemeke, Kristina Moore, Jason Meyer, Marcus Meyer, Gina Neu, Jesse Neu, Cody Neu and
Crystal Neu. He also had 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Blanche Neu; grandson, Brandon Meyer; and great-granddaughters: Hannah Lemeke and McKenzie Marlow.
