See attachment in email sent November 4, 2011 Previously Printed Weeded Material We will be doing yearly overlays in CIDER. Each library will need to send us a file of their entire catalog (by doing an export.) The plan is for this to take place each January. With this new policy, libraries do not need to send their deletes to the SLS, which makes things more efficient for both the SLS and our libraries. A library's current catalog export will replace the old one (whatever is in CIDER previous to the overlay) and quarterly updates will continue for ICICILL (the SLS handles 1 this—nothing for libraries to do.) If a different time for sending the export would be better for your library’s weeding policy/schedule then let the SLS know. So! You don't need to do anything with the deletes except take them out of your circulation system. Then, when we ask for the export of your entire catalog in January, you will send it to us and it will be uploaded as an overlay in CIDER and Voila! your catalog will be updated. Gale Newsstand replaces Custom Newspapers in NOVELny Angela has changed this link on our SLS Database page. Newspaper coverage available through the NOVELNY initiative will be upgraded on October 25 th with the replacement of InfoTrac Custom Newspapers with Gale Newsstand. Newsstand includes all of the content from Custom Newspapers and more. The move to Newsstand should address concerns on timely updating of content noted in the Custom Newspapers product. The National Newspaper Index and New York State Newspapers access will remain unchanged. The title list for InfoTrac Newsstand may be found at: http://www.gale.cengage.com/title_lists/. Find the fact sheet for Newsstand at: http://www.gale.cengage.com/pdf/facts/ITCN.pdf. **Libraries registered for NOVELNY and maintaining a separate link to Custom Newspapers will have to delete that link and create a link to Newsstand (see URL below). The existing link to Custom Newspapers will remain active until Monday, November 28, 2011. ** If the SLS maintains your library page, please contact Angela so that this link change will be made to your page before Nov.28th.
