Scholarship Criteria
Eligibility
Students must be graduating from a Cochrane High School (Bow Valley, Cochrane, St. Tim’s,
Cochrane Home Educators)
Students must be entering their first year of post-secondary education as a full-time student, at a
recognized institution.
Scholarships will be awarded to the top two candidates based on total criteria points scored
No SLS RPS Board or SLS FSC Staff Member and/or their immediate families may apply
Criteria being scored
1. (10) Within the past two years Students must have played on a Team / User Group at SLS FSC
or have been a regular user of SLS FSC. Students should be able to demonstrate
sportsmanship and fair play while playing sports
2. (25) Students must be able to demonstrate how they have taken a leadership role, been
involved within the community, made a difference ex: (volunteerism, coaching, instructing,
mentoring, referring, working, giving back to the community)
3. (15) Students must demonstrate academic proficiency in grade 11 and 12
4. (10) Demonstrate how the student has financially contributed to their post secondary education
and how they expect their total schooling to be funded over the term of their post secondary
education.
5. (10) Students must demonstrate the need for the scholarship
6. (20) What other unique attributes sets the student apart from other applicants
7. (10) Two references that speak to what the student has achieved/accomplished
7. Upon receipt of a scholarship, mandatory attendance at the awarding ceremony is required.
8. The Calgary Foundation is the administrator of the Scholarship.
Scholarships offered:
Two scholarships at $1,500 each for 2013.
Deadline for applications to be received at the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre office
Wednesday, April 17 / 2013 at 4:00pm.
