TRENDS (Main Pavilion: Lower Level, Ground Floor, Upper Level, Cavaniglia Pavilion) Pitti Filati features the collections that herald the esthetics of the future. The colors and textures of the yarns on display exert their influence on fashions, lifestyles, foods, cosmetics, communications and design. Knitting Together is the guiding theme for the 2004/2005 Fall-Winter season and for the Spazio Ricerca at the 53rd edition of Pitti Immagine Filati. The intent is to suggest a new vision of the world, of society and fashion where the knit, made from yarns that differ as to fiber, gauge, look and color, is the symbol of union and unity. In a world governed by chaos, the group - from the family to the volunteer association, to politics - is a necessity for breaking down distinctions and diversities to create a new social reality and a new concept of fashion. For the first time, the main concept of the Pitti Immagine Filati Spazio Ricerca is not subdivided into themes. This time it is represented by a single physical and ideal place, a workshop for exchanging and mixing influences and styles in the name of creativity. The 2004/2005 Fall-Winter season is urging us to discover that the knit is not just a sweater or pullover, but a complete way of dressing; it is a quest for shape, for new proportions, for asymmetry and motion. Materials, color and shape joined with a new concept of the natural in the sense of purity, spontaneity and imperfections are the essential elements for the product of the near future. The fantasy effect is achieved by combining relief surfaces and colors. Let’s take a closer look at their main features. Natural is no longer a synonym for rustic, but rather precious and elegant, full, bulky, puffed out yarns, like cotton wadding. Shot and uneven. Neutral and pastel shades, cashmere blended with wool and cotton, angora and baby alpaca, lambswool, sporty knits, comfortable, embracing volumes. Lightness and pet-like fuzziness are recurrent themes and tie in well with the lively pastel colors borrowed from the summer palette. Alpaca, mohair and cashmere characterize those yarns which, thanks to chiné and misty effects, ultra light bouclés, fringes gauzes, cut laces, loose ribbons and tapes and transparent chains with a sweet and delicate air emulate the fur and coats of our animal friends. The new concept in tweed means mixing colors and represents those complex yarns born from the combination of different materials, with surfaces that come alive to the touch and through color too. They are strong, warm, slightly felted and develop into compact and protective knits. Color is the primary element of the yarn and the knitted garment. The strong presence of chiné and blended ton-sur-ton mélanges in the collections confirm its importance. Ornamentation is de rigueur. Threads with velvety or leather-like surfaces join with shiny threads that recall medieval chain mail. Fringes, furs, feathers and chenille. Deco style jacquards, tartan and argyle patterns are being rediscovered. And if wool is the season’s main fiber, biodegradable corn fiber is the most widely in the experiments. And, all over there is just enough elastic fiber to make this comfortable. The yarns are mostly thick; the most important colors are white, red, turquoise and the acid tones. The Concepts To offer eclectic yarns open to high quality innovative creations with special effects and high creative content.
