The Tricot - Couture project, launched in July, 2006, is now in its third edition. The experimentation between technology and precious yarns remains an important reality for Alta Roma which, since the very beginning, has always placed particular emphasis on all types of advanced, artistic research which, when applied to luxurious materials and antique flavours, result in working techniques formerly considered impossible. The new working techniques neither substitute looms nor weaving but allow for the creation of seamless garments thanks to the use of increasingly fine yarns. However, the success of a collection derives from the ability to intercept the ongoing changes in taste and even the mood of the client, filtered through the sensitivity of the designer.
Saverio Palatella, one of the most widely appreciated interpreters of knitwear, returns to the Alta Roma catwalk. It is to him that ‘tricot’ owes its promotion from an accessory to a real “outfit”. An important upgrade in “status”. Palatella presents a project linked to the tubular working of knitwear, i.e. devoid of stitching, creating a masterpiece that combines avant-garde techniques with precious yarns. But Palatella’s new collection of knitted dresses, highly contemporary both in terms of content and technologies used, expresses itself through an art form. i.e. a new avant-garde project. The designer commented as follows,
“The idea is to accompany the collection with an artistic communication project, from art videos to performances, which have a meaning per se. Apart from the spirit of the dresses which in some way it wishes to interpret”.
And Bianca Maria Gervasio, who debuted in July, 2003, on the catwalks of Alta Roma and who is now an established designer, will also be with us. Art Director for a famous brand, Bianca continues to be attracted by the experimentation with matter, i.e. skins, wool or cashmere cloth. At this edition, she will present a fashion show inspired by Australia and the conceptual and volumetric style of the Australian outback and its wide open spaces, its colours, its nature, its products and its eco-compatible wool.
