Objectives of the Traineeship
Supporting lecturers and student teachers in developing
demonstration classes for Early Childhood and Primary
Education Departments of Teacher Training Institutes on
Active Teaching and Learning (ATL) environment and
methods to support student teachers in teaching practice and
lecturers in coaching and mentoring.
Expected Results
- 02 demonstration classes are set up for teaching practice.
- Student teachers have more opportunities to practice
teaching in a early childhood and primary school
environment and prepare for teaching and learning aids.
- Lecturers have access to a more pratical environment and
relevant documentation to coach and mentor the student
teachers in teaching practice.

classes in TTIs for student teacher in

4. Support
Working environment
The trainees will work for 2-3 weeks at the VVOB office in
Hanoi to prepare their training module.
Afterwards they move for the remaining 2.5 months to one of
the 4 provincial partner teacher training institutes.

5. Minimum requirements
Expertise
 Acquainted with using Active Teaching and Learning
methods and developing child-friendly learning
environment in early childhood education
 Knowledge of coaching and mentoring
Profile
 Preferred: Teacher training or pedagogy students with
proficiency in English.
Required / Preferred preparation
Collect ideas and materials to use for the process to develop
demonstration classes and training modules, in line with the
topics that need to be covered

Preference
to
assign
the Ideally, the intern is a final year student from a partner
attachment to a student of a Teacher Training College, with some experiences in teaching
specific college (in case of practice/ internship.
partnership with a Flemish college)

Weekends, official (Vietnamese) holidays + 2.5 days per

Required language skills
Very good knowledge of English; certification such as IELTS
(+7.5) or TOEFL (CBT + 240) is a strong asset.
Transport
Aeroflot and Lot offer cheap flights from Brussels to Hanoi.
Travel to the provinces happens either by bus/car (Thai
Nguyen), train (Nghe An) or plane (Quang Nam, Quang Ngai).
Local transportation: motorbike, bicycle or taxi.

The cooperation between VVOB and Vietnam started in 1992. 20 years later VVOB has outgrown its
substitution and project phases, with a programme concentrating on the sectors of basic education
and agricultural extension.
The current education programme aims to improve the quality of lower secondary education in 4
provinces of North and Central Vietnam (Thai Nguyen, Nghe An, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai) through
an integrated support to the Active Teaching and Learning (ATL) change processes.
In frame with Education Innovation Plan (EIP) developed by 04 Teacher Training Institute with VVOB’s
support, VVOB is collaborating with teacher training institutes in introducing innovative teaching and
learning methods to teacher trainers and future teaching staff. The ultimate goal of the interventions is
to improve the quality of Early Childhood Education in Vietnam by promoting contemporary
knowledge, effective professional skills, creativity, independent and critical thinking skills, problemsolving capability and high adaptability to a continuously changing environment.
