I.
Assignment Grades
Exercises ...............................................55.0%
II. Test Grades
Midterm Exam ............................................20.0%
Final Exam...............................................25.0%
Note:
Exercise assignments are individual assignments and must be
completed independently to receive full credit. Except for normal
discussions, collaboration and/or copying in any form will result in a
grade of zero for that program or test.
In addition, the failure to
follow the lab policies listed above will result in a one point deduction
per occurrence from a student’s final numeric course grade. Multiple lab
policy violations may also result in a student being suspended from
school.
Class participation
All students are expected to attend all classes and arrive on time.
Students should have prerequisite knowledge of the course and properly
prepare for each class including reading the assigned readings before
each class, participating in class discussions, and providing thoughtful
answers to questions.
Homework/lab assignments are only effective when
participants have read and participated in class activities.
Remediation and Enrichment
It is strongly recommended that all students utilize the course text.

Summer 2009
While the textbook is adequate, many times additional coding examples and
different author presentations in additional texts provide students with
a better understanding of materials covered in CIS2161.
Attendance
If a student misses in excess of five (5) days or misses more than
ten (10) percent in any course (class or lab) during a quarter, the
student is subject to being suspended from the course(s) involved. Three
(3) tardies equals one (1) absence.
If a student misses more than ten
(10) percent of a class, the student is considered absent for that class.
Students will be notified by their instructor when they accumulate 6
absences and will have two (2) days after that notification to provide
written documentation to their instructor justifying those absences. If
this documentation is not received or the documentation is not suffice,
the student will be suspended from the course.
A student who has been suspended from a course has the right to
appeal in writing and will remain in school during the appeal process.
Please see the attendance policies in the student handbook for more
information.
Work Ethics
Students will receive work ethics grades (0 = unacceptable,
1 = needs improvement, 2 = meets expectations, or 3 = exceeds
expectations) each quarter for specified essential specific and essential
advanced occupational/technical courses. The quarterly work ethics grade
will not affect the academic grade point average(GPA) of a student; that
is, work ethics grades remain separate from academic grades.
Works
ethics grades will be printed on quarterly Student Progress Reports and
Transcripts.
Work ethics grades are designed to evaluate and encourage good work
habits. Performance factors and indicators include, but are not limited
to, quality of work, ability to follow directions, productivity,
dependability,
honesty,
reliability,
attendance
and
punctuality,
attitude, integrity, enthusiasm, interpersonal skill, and initiative.

Disabled Student Services
Services are available to assist disabled students before and during
the admissions process and from initial enrollment, including classroom
accommodations, through graduation and career placement. A wide range of
services are provided which include: academic, career, and personal
counseling; interpreters, readers, or note takers; special testing
arrangements (extended time, reader, or separate room); assistance with
obtaining large print or taped textbooks and Braille materials for
visually impaired; and use of adaptive technology on campus. Disabled
students have the responsibility to contact the Special Needs counselor
to discuss special needs and services. Learning disabled students are
required to provide current diagnostic test results in order to receive
special services. Subsequently, it is the responsibility of the student
to provide the special needs counselor a class schedule each quarter and
complete the accommodations form for each instructor.
The Special Needs Office is located in Building 300, Room 305 in the
Counseling Center. For an appointment or additional information, call
(706) 771-4067 (V/TTY) (hearing impaired telephone).
