Counselor’s Corner: This week I visited with students during classroom lessons on enrollment for next year.
7th grade students need to return their parent-signed enrollment forms to Mrs. Hopkins by Wednesday,

7th Grade Reading: Weekly log week-ending (W/E) 2/21 is due Mon. 2/24. This week, we’ll continue our unit
that focuses on nonfiction text. We’ll begin the week with a vocabulary warm-up for “The Legacy of Snowflake
Bentley” and “No Gumption”. We will compare and contrast this biography and autobiography. Feel free to

Communication Arts: We will work on using details from text to support answers, using semi-colons correctly,
and prepositions. Daily assignments are listed on my school webpage. Reminder: All homework assignments
that receive a grade below a C may be redone for half credit. Assignments must be asked for that day and are
due the next class time. Encourage your student to take advantage of this opportunity if needed.

7th Grade Math: Students will take a quiz over graphing and slope on Tuesday. We will start a unit on
percents next week. Students will be able to convert fractions and decimals to percents.
Pre-Algebra: We will continue our unit on exponents next week. Students will learn to use the Pythagorean
Theorem and its converse to solve problems.

7th Grade Math (Bill) Next week, students will review the Coordinate Plane, relating graphs to situations, and
graphing & identifying the slope of a line. B5 will take their Chapter 5 assessesment on Thursday and G5 will

Science: This week students will be able to…classify organisms into unicellular/multicellular organisms and
identify and describe each level of organization in multicellular organisms. WE will wrap up the week by

7th Grade Glimpse Mr. Stickel Social Studies: Students have just completed their test over chapter 7 and the
physical features of Latin America. We will now be entering into history of Latin America as well as the current
state of politics in Latin America. If you ever need to contact me my conference period is during third block
from 10:00-11:30 am Monday – Friday. I can be reached by phone at the middle school during my conference

7th Grade Social Studies DeMay Students will be able to analyze the issues and challenges of the United
States and Canada. Next week we will be taking our test over the issues and challenges of the U.S. and
Canada. Students will receive a review guide to help them prepare for their test. If you have any questions feel

CA (6-8) – Ms. Lettau - Students in CA struggled with apostrophe’s, so we did some reteaching and they will
re-test on Monday. We will then begin our study of prepositions. If you have questions, you may call me at

READING (7-8) – Ms. Lettau – Students will continue reading the novel, and completing vocabulary and
chapter activities. They were struggling with cause and effect, so we will finish sequencing next week, then

7th grade RISE: Students are working on a unit based around the book A Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L’Engle.
I will be reading the book aloud and students will complete various summary activities for each chapter. Skills
focus on analysis, inference, comparing and contrasting, and supporting opinions. Marybeth Fuller 660-5847127 fullermb@huskers.k12.mo.us
7th/8th Health and Physical Education: The students will discuss the dietary guidelines for Americans, and
describe the food groups. They will be able to read a nutrition label and describe the difference in a serving
size and a portion size. In physical education class the students will be able to demonstrate the rules and skills
required to play table tennis and badminton.

7th grade art: Students will complete their oil pastel flags and will write artist statements for them.

Vocal Music Students have been learning proper breathing techniques for singing. Both classes are working
on music for the spring concert. Choir classes will take a written test and singing test before the end of the
quarter. The written test will be on Thursday, February 27, and the singing test will be on Friday, March

Band Dr. Mattson, the oboe and bassoon professor at UCM, will be presenting a session on oboe and
bassoon on Tuesday from 3-4 pm. Please encourage your student to attend! We kicked off a fundraiser on
Thursday and Friday last week. Orders will be due on March 7th. Products will be delivered the week of March
31st.
