Lone Star College Online
We will be using Lone Star College Online to supplement delivery of the materials in the classroom. All
quizzes and part of the tests will be available on Lone Star College Online. A PowerPoint slide
presentation will be presented for each chapter. These slides will be available on the internet via Lone
Star College Online. Each student should have these slides prior to the presentation. If you have
problems logging in to Lone Star College Online, please let me know or call tech support at 1-866-6145014. Don’t wait to sign on to Lone Star College Online.
Quizzes
Group and online quizzes will be given on each chapter. The group quizzes are paper based and done in
class. Each member of the group will receive the group grade. If a member of the group is missing,
he/she will receive a grade of “0”. The group with the highest grade on the chapter quiz will receive 10
extra points.
Online quizzes will be available on Lone Star College Online. There will be no time limit on the online
quizzes and you can take these quizzes up to three times. The online quizzes will only be available
during the class periods that we are discussing the material. After the test is taken on these chapters,
the online quizzes will no longer be available.
Exams
Five tests will be given during the semester; four chapter tests and the final exam. Only four test
grades will be used to calculate total test grades. Tests will be comprised of two parts. One part on
Lone Star College Online and the other part will be taken in the classroom. The tests on Lone Star
College Online will have a time limit of 90 minutes and can be taken only two times. The final exam will
have only one part which will be on Lone Star College Online. NO MAKE UP TESTS WILL BE GIVEN
unless prior approval from the professor. If there is no prior approval, the final exam grade will be
substituted for the missed test.
Assignments
Assignment problems handed out in class are bonus problems. These problems must be handed in the
class period before the test is scheduled to receive bonus points on your test. These problems will be
reviewed prior to taking the chapter exam.

Homework
Exercises are classroom work and will not be turned in. The assigned problems are homework and must
be turned in before each test. If all assigned problems are turned in, two points are added to the
total grade at the end of the semester. Good class attendance and good homework will help your
performance on the exams.
Withdrawals
April 13, 2010, is the deadline to withdraw from this course and receive a “W”. Before withdrawing, a
student should discuss the matter with the professor. It is suggested that the student just doesn’t
“disappear” and stop coming to class, but initiate a formal withdrawal notice. To insure the grade of “W”
(withdrawal) instead of “F”, the student must officially initiate a formal withdrawal with the Registrar’s
office. It is not the responsibility of the instructor to drop the student from the course.
LETTER GRADE ASSIGNMENT
Final letter grades will be assigned after computing individual final average in percent as follows:
