Şımga-Muğan and N.Hoşal-Akman 4th edition, 2010 Course web page: http://www.metu.edu.tr/~mugan/courses.htm BAS 142 where you will find power point presentations of each week; solutions to select problems from the book; announcements and grades AIM OF THE COURSE: The course is designed as an introductory accounting course in which the aim is to initiate the students in the use and preparation of financial statements. As aspiring managers, the students need to recognize the need for accounting principles, procedures and the financial statements in companies’ decision making process. In so doing, the topics covered include the basic principles and recording process to prepare useful financial statements. In the second half of the semester, selected topics will be discussed in detail. COURSE REQUIREMENTS AND GRADING POLICY: Students are required to come to class after reading the assigned material for the session, be ready to ask and answer relevant questions. You are advised to work on suggested questions, and also attnd the recitations. Make up exams are administered only upon presentation of a report from the health center, and then only during the finals week a single comprehensive make-up exam will be given. Therefore, the students are strongly urged to take the exams on the scheduled dates. The usual consequence for academic dishonesty is failure in the course and additional disciplinary action. Examinations are individual and are to be completed without unauthorized outside assistance. Persons observed cheating during examinations will automatically receive a failing grade in the course. In addition to the consequences above, the instructor will initiate disciplinary action against the student(s) involved in academic dishonesty.
