Career History REFCAMS (Reserved Forces’ and Cadets’ Association Management System - Phase 2) Oct 2003 – till date Client: Reserved Forces' and Cadets' Association Management System (REFCAMS) is being developed for South East Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association (SE RFCA). This system co-ordinates various Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Associations (RFCAs) by identifying their requirements and fulfilling the same within the set budget allocated by the Ministry of Defence (MoD). The Cashbook module uses phase I extensively to capture the information relevant to the cashbook. The triggers and packages are modified/newly written to populate the data pertaining to the cashbook in the background and the same interface screens are maintained as much as possible, The cashbook shows the true state-of-affairs with respect to the money paid in and out from different bank accounts. It also shows the inter bank-account transfers. All the income and expenditure transactions are recorded against different nominal ledger accounts. Cashbook reflects both the debit and credit transactions of the bank account in one hand and the distribution of money between nominal ledger accounts on the other hand establishing the duality of the “Double Entry Book keeping”. This system also provides user friendly interfaces to handle the inter bank-account and inter nominal ledger-account transfers. Also, this module enables the users to make payments to various suppliers using BACS. Further the intimation regarding the payment made through BACS is automatically generated as an e-mail and sent to different suppliers. Bank reconciliation module developed in phase 1 is further enhanced to do automatic reconciliation. The bank statement is exported from the banking system and fed into REFCAMS to do the automatic reconciliation. Various analysis forms are also developed to show the history of the transactions from the starting point to the end to prove that the system is fully auditable. Role: Senior Programmer. I was responsible for developing stored packages, procedures, database triggers, Income Module, Nominal Ledge Transfer module and the Cashbook . I used macros and SQL*XL in Excel to access the data from the database in order to print the cashbook. I made extensive use of Reports 6 and Forms 6 and carried out design and development of template forms. Environment: PL/SQL, SQL*Plus, SQL*Loader, Toad, Oracle Developer (Forms 6, Reports 6), Oracle 8i, Windows 2000 server. 533575721 – Dated: 15 Jul 2003 1 of 4 REFCAMS (Reserved Forces’ and Cadets’ Association Management System – Phase I) Sep 2000 – Sep 2003 This Module integrates the Works, Quartermasters, Finance and Administration departments. The requests from various RFCA centres are collected and prioritised. A supplier is identified and a Contract or a Work Order or a Purchase Order is made depending on the nature of the request. The suppliers are paid after the successful completion of the allocated job. This system controls the money spent and the money received from the MoD. Role: Senior Programmer. I was responsible for developing stored packages, procedures, database triggers, Works module, Quartermasters module and Finance module. I made extensive use of Reports 6 and Forms 6 and carried out design and development of template forms. I also used export and import utilities to transfer the data from the Production Server to the Development Server. Environment: PL/SQL, SQL*Plus, SQL*Loader, Toad, Oracle Developer (Forms 6, Reports 6), Oracle 8i, Windows 2000 Server Edition. Asset Management System Nov 1999 - July 2000 Client: This Project was developed for Colombia Tristar Films of India Limited. Colombia’s clients are the various Exhibitors. Chennai Regional office controls 4 zones - Hydrabad, Vijayawada, Cochin and Bangalore. The Exhibitors will order a particular film for a time period. Based on the availability of the print the bookings will be made for a particular film. In the manual system when an Exhibitor orders a film print each zone will check the availability of the print in their zone and the exhibitors are informed about the status of the print. In the computerized System the scope of the availability of the print is checked for the entire region, which is accomplished by making the entire region’s data web-enabled. Once the data is available globally various assets are also tracked at regional level. Role(s): Senior Software Engineer/Project Management. I was responsible for; database and application design, liasing with clients and overall project management. As part of his responsibilities, I was actively involved in understanding the client requirement and devising systems, which could improve their service. I was also responsible for System Study and Analysing the requirement, Architecture Design, and was also involved in both the front and back end Application Development. Environment : This project was developed in Html, Java, Servlets and Oracle 7.2 Work-In-Progress System Jun 1999 - Oct 1999 Client: This Project was developed for Wire Wheels division of Wheels India Ltd. This is a group company of TVS Industries Ltd. The main line of activity of this division is to manufacture and export Spoke Wheels for automobiles. The manufacturing and assembling process on the shop floor of this division is highly labour oriented. This dependency on labour has lead to certain drawbacks such as difficulty in tracking, monitoring and control of inventory, difficulty in control of manufacturing process etc. The main purpose of this system is to eliminate redundancy, reduce errors and avoid piling of dead stock through effective monitoring of the manufacturing process. An ineffective monitoring mechanism has lead to piling of inventory, both semifinished as well as finished. The work-in-progress system is aimed at helping the management in planning and monitoring the process more effectively. Thus it would be able to exercise better control over it. In the long run it is aimed to bring down the cost of time and labour. Role(s): Software Engineer As a Team Leader, I was responsible for System Study and Analysing the requirement, Architecture Design, implementation of the project at customer site. I was involved in both the front and back end Application Development. My duties also include installing the software, porting existing system data to the new application. Conducting acceptance test and changes, and user training. Environment: This project was developed in Visual Basic and Ms-Access. E-Commerce Jan 1999 to May 1999 Client: This project was developed for Pizza Time. This website is developed using selena Sol (web store) also called the shopping cart system. Any browsers on the net can make an online order for a pizza. The website was developed using Html and Java scripts in the front end and perl Database on the backend. Also connectivity was established with oracle to process the data, 533575721 – Dated: 15 Jul 2003 2 of 4 as it was available in the order log. The server for the site was located in USA and various checks were made to incorporate time differences existing between various time zones. Role(s): Senior Programmer. I was responsible for System Study and analyzing the requirement, Architecture Design. I was responsible for identifying the server, which is best suited for the Application in terms of Fire Wall Security, and also servers, which will provide SSL Embedded transactions, which will be useful for credit card validations. I was also responsible for uploading the programs, which are updated from time to time based on the customer interest using File Transfer Protocol.
