Dubai’s Children’s City hosts international debut of Above and Beyond
Educational Exhibition in November
High-tech exhibition provides hands-on experience with wonders of flight, space
exploration for ages 7-14
Innovations showcased as part of Boeing’s 100th anniversary in 2016
DUBAI, UAE, October 6th, 2015 – Children’s City in Dubai will host the first
international destination of Above and Beyond, the ultimate interactive flight exhibition.
The exhibition, opening Nov. 7, 2015, is an education-based exploration of the wonder
of flight and the marvels of aerospace innovation, design and technology.
Produced by Evergreen Exhibitions in collaboration with NASA, Above and
Beyond is presented by Boeing as part of the company’s schedule of events, activities,
stories and engagement to celebrate its centennial in 2016.
“We are excited to be the first international host of Above & Beyond at Children’s
City, because we are continuously seeking new ways to educate and engage young
people. The UAE is becoming an aviation hub and this exhibit will allow children to
better experience the fundamental concepts of aerospace and even spark interest in
pursuing careers in the space and aviation world,” said Naila Rashid Al Mansoory, head
of the Children’s City
Above and Beyond offers visitors of all ages, an exciting, hands-on journey
through the innovations and science behind flight and space exploration, as well as the
advancements of tomorrow. It is designed to be the most interactive exhibition on
aerospace ever to tour, with approximately 5,000 square feet of exhibition space,
including a 180-degree immersive theater presentation, a high-tech media-rich historical
timeline, a simulated space elevator ride, a challenge to design and test a supersonic
1
fighter jet in a virtual high-speed flying competition, and an avatar-based motion-capture
group experience that demonstrates flight like a bird.
“Above and Beyond represents an investment in inspiring curiosity in the region’s
next generation to enjoy, explore and create through science, engineering, and
technology. The exhibition is also a powerful way to generate belief in their ability to
develop the skills to contribute in fields like aerospace as future designers, engineers or
business leaders,” said Bernard Dunn, President of Boeing Middle East.
Supporting the exhibit is an important element of Boeing’s centennial
commemoration, an unparalleled opportunity to share Boeing’s own rich legacy and
culture of innovation through high quality, engaging education, and STEM-related
activities. After its debut at Children’s City, upcoming Above and Beyond tour stops
include Abu Dhabi, London and Tokyo, as well as several cities in the United States.
