Riverside Chicago, IL 60606 www.boeing.com “Above and Beyond” Exhibit to Inspire Charleston with Hands-on Flight & Space Adventures Boeing launches second century of aerospace achievement by presenting interactive exhibit at the Charleston Gaillard Center Feb. 13 – March 13, 2016 North Charleston, S.C., Nov. 16, 2015 – Above and Beyond - The Ultimate Interactive Flight Exhibition will launch in Charleston early 2016 as Boeing [NYSE: BA] recognizes its centennial year. Designed for visitors of all ages, but especially those aged 7–14, Above and Beyond explores the wonder of flight and the marvels of aerospace innovation, design, and technology. The exhibition will be open at the Charleston Gaillard Center Feb. 13 –March 23, 2016, and is produced by Evergreen Exhibitions in association with Boeing and in collaboration with NASA and the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum. “We’re excited to have the Above and Beyond exhibit visit the Charleston area,” said Beverly Wyse, vice president and general manager, Boeing South Carolina. “Promoting STEM education to South Carolina students is one of our most important goals, and this month-long exhibit will inspire children – and adults – to learn more about aerospace and explore science, engineering and technology as potential career paths.” Presenting Above and Beyond is an important element of Boeing’s centennial celebration, which the company is using to share its own rich legacy and culture of innovation through engaging educational activities. The exhibition features interactive, hands-on activities such as a multi-touch timeline, an immersive video experience and interactive simulations and design activities. Through these activities, visitors will be able to take a simulated ride in a space elevator ride, equip and launch a drone, design News Release and test-fly a supersonic jet and experience flight as a bird through an avatar-based motion-capture experience. Above and Beyond is co-sponsored by The Charleston Gaillard Center, The Post & Courier and the Charleston Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. The global tour kicked off at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C, in August 2015, and the exhibition will travel to several U.S. cities and international locations after leaving Charleston.
