Assessment 1
Agencies and workers need to be aware of how they can unwittingly
contribute to client aggression.
This assessment activity asks you to reflect on your own agency.
TASK
1. Make comments about the following in your agency:

Physical environment

Emotional climate

Staff behaviour.
2. In discussion with your supervisor and others, explain how any of
these could unwittingly contribute to client aggression. If the agency
has already dealt with these issues in the past, explain what changes
were made and why they were made.

Assessment 2
This assessment activity requires you to review the three models for
working positively with people exhibiting problem behaviour:

Solution-focused behavioural change model

Reality therapy and Choice theory

Negotiation and conflict management techniques.
TASK
1. Give a short overview of each model/method, and explain your
understanding of why it is a useful model, and when you think that
particular model might be used with clients exhibiting problem
behaviour.

Assessment 3
In this assessment activity you are required to read the following
scenarios and provide short answers:

You are a community worker who has been assigned to travel to a
remote Aboriginal or Torres-Strait Islander community. What are
some of the key protocols you must consider prior to doing this?

You are a community worker in a remote or rural area who is likely
to encounter clients from diverse cultures. What are some key
points to remember to enable effective communication?
TASK
1. Write a short answer for each scenario. Explain why it is important that
knowledge of, and respect for, diversity of culture is important when
undertaking community work.
