Observation focus questions
In The practice of observation, Jo Darbyshire shares her experiences of using observations
to support children’s learning. Jo is a kindergarten teacher who trialled the 2010 draft of the
Queensland kindergarten learning guideline (QKLG). Jo reflects on her practices and thinking
as she:
 explores the significance of gathering particular information
 describes how her observations are organised
 discusses the practical systems she has in place to ensure that she gathers information
